I admit it... I heard all these negative things about the Panther series and how it dissed continuity and such. I ranted and raved without ever having read the book. So I picked up # 23 on a lark... and I liked it. Enough so that I bought # 24... and I liked that one, too! I found these issues much better than the Priest run and I've added it to my pull list.
Consider me converted.

Welcome aboard. :D I understand how easy it is to get caught up in the opinions of others, especially when they are voiced so strongly and frequently, but I'm glad you decided to see for yourself and make up your own mind.

Welcome, Aric. Don't beat yourself up too much about not liking the comic before. Alot of the people who criticize the comic had never read it either. Too bad they can't have an open mind like you have shown. The fact is you took a chance to see what was what for yourself and now you made up your own mind. :)
-
or you can call me Frostbite or Frost for short.
Anyway, First let me say what's up!
And secondly, I like Hudlin's work on Black Panther. I didn't at first, but I do now! ;) ;D
And third, I'm hoping Black Panther will stay for the long hail at Marvel.
Well, that's that. STAY FROST!
-
Welcome Frost
Glad you gave the book a chance and are enjoying it, make yourself right at home.
-
Hey Frost, welcome! I know you from
BlackSuperHeroTalk. :)
-
Yeah, I was there on that website.
Anyway, just so ya'll know I don't buy BP I just read it at a comic shop I go to.
And it's not always an excellent comic at times, but it's still good non-the-less.
:)
Also, did some of ya'll know I have made a fanfic on fanfiction.net?
-
Hi,I'm a new member to this board, but I have been reading Black since the wedding and it is great. In the last issue I loved it when she put Tony Stark in his place. He needs to come down off his high horse very soon. The new Queen of Wakanda doesn't take stuff from anyone and I'm glad that part of Storm's personality has been brought to this book.I also love that T'challa both loves and respects his wife and vice versa.I hope that the loving couple find some time to be alone after this Civil War event is over.

i take it that you're a long time storm fan?
:D
-
Seems to be a sudden clutch of new members announcing themselves lately, which is great! Welcome aboard, Frosty.
-
Welcome, Stormy. Looks like Storm gets to show her stuff in this issue and the next, so should be good.
-
Welcom the the board. :)
-
Welcome to the boards. :)
-
With the influx of new guys, I figured we should have a specific thread for Newbies to introduce themselves.
Tell us everything you want us to know ... and definitely tell us what you know, like and dislike about Panther and his current situations.

Welcome to the boards. :)
Thank you! :)

What's up, folks!! Just wanted to show you all some love! I'm the new kid on the block in these parts! I heard mention of this forum on the web and I had to check it out for myself! I'm Catch22, from Atlanta and even though, I'm new to the forum, but a vet of the web game so don't try me! ;D I kid, I kid! Hit me up and I'll talk to you guys later! Peace!
-
Welcome, from the former "New Guy on the Block" ;D
Hope you have fun here. It can get a little nutty from time to time, but in the end, this is a board filled with good people with a lot on their mind.
-
....Processing Facility?
Damn that sounds ominous :D.
And when do I get my "full member" decoder ring dammit!
(grumble, grumble)
-
This should be a sticky. Admins, you should probably post an announcement that leads all newbies to this thread. A lot of people are posting their hellos in the Panther portion of the forum, which makes sense.
-
Thank you for your support, my e-Queen.
And welcome to the family, Catch-22. As you may have already read, there are quite a few of us in the ATLanta area.
*looks at Vic Vega*
hey... i'm not a mod. i just play one on tv. I'm not the keeper of the 'precious', err.. the HEFfa decoder ring...yet.

Done and done. That is, it's now a sticky on the BP board. I merged some of the newbie introductions into this thread so it's a little bit of a mash-up but at least they're all in one place. There used to be an intro thread too. Maybe somebody could bump that or create a new one if there isn't one yet on HEF 2.0
-
What's up, everybody! New to the site, but a big BP fan. Heard about this place on Newsarama and I had to stop on in. I'm absolutely LOVING the new Black Panther! It's on the top of my reading stack every week. I gotta wait for this week's shipment, so be gentle with the spoilers! ;D
-
The processing facility messed up my head or something! :P I gotta get the timing down with my posts. Thanks for all the welcomes!

Well, there was that thread that Ciencano started for posting pictures of yourself, but maybe we should steer clear - bad memories and all that. :-\

You have restored my faith in that intangible essence that enables the true comic book fan to enjoy the experience a book, its characters and its creative team has to offer on its own merits.

Just wanted to say that the writing on BP is in a whole different league!
I was worried hearing that BP was getting married, ect.. But when I started
reading it, it blew me away! Great Stuff!! Thanks for making BP a great ride and
a must grab!

Whats good people? I'm kinda new I guess. I've just come on a couple of times to see what the forum was about. As you all can see I am a big fan of Monica Rambeau aka Pulsar or is it Photon again?....anyway I'm a fan period. I picked up BP #'s 12 & 13. I loved it! yeah because my gurl Monica's in it and I like the look and feel of an all black team. i especially liked the part where BP tells Monica she should use her power in an more productive manner, and that she is a goddess, she needs to ACT as such. I couldn't agree more with BP. I do feel that she is underused at times. I did like her run in Nextwave. Hopefully I will see more of her in some up coming BP issues. Mr. Hudlin does a very nice job with her and the Wakandan couple. From a real fan of Monica, I really hope to see Captain Marvel II alot more. Peace(http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l251/tahdigga/photonavi.gif)

I really hope she becomes a more prominent character in the MU and the Avengers.

Dropped my intro in the wrong spot apparently.
Hi, I'm Walt. I live near Philadelphia and teach U.S. history. Sci-Fi/Fantasy is my reading of choice when I'm not working (all two hours per year).
I love the respect Captain Marvel/Photon gets on this thread. She definitely does not get enough work.
My novel focuses on two characters directly inspired by her. Maybe I'll post a sample if I can find the right thread.
Anyway, good to be here.

Welcome Walt!

Just wanted to stop by and say howdy. I'm a veteran of the HeroTalk forum at the Black Superhero Museum, but I've monitored the convo over here from time to time. I thought it was high time I joined up. I recognize some of you from various places on the internet and others are completely new. I'm glad to see Rutog found a home here. His advocacy of Storm on usenet has reached legendary status. Anyway, looking forward to the healthy exchange of Pantherific ideas.

Peace people long time lurker and fan of Black Panther.
Just wanted to take a moment and say hi and give some major props to Mr Hudlin for producing some awesome stories and getting me back in to comics full time again after a 15 year absence. I also wanted to give props to the posters on this board for holding it down on the internet, i frequent the Rama and CBR and see all the hate that goes on and get sick of it. Im glad to be in the company of intelligent people (black/brown/tan).
I am an aspiring artist and Black Panther is one of those characters that makes my imagination go wild. There are tons of creative possiblities for the character and the world around him that needs exploring.
I would like to post some of my Fan art that i have but ive yet to make it a reasonable size of the net.
Oh and I have another question fo Mr. Hudlin, Where can i send you a pitch (and some art) for an idea i have for Black Panther?
Peace

Welcome GODHOOD we're glad to have you. :)
I've found some of the most intelligent posters on the net here on the HEF.
Some of us try to post on other boards to let fans of the current series of BP know that they are not alone and others enjoy the series as well.
I'll leave comic industry advice to others but good luck!

we love it when lurkers become family.
Welcome home, G'hood!
just for the record, soliciting biz isn't really a good look here. Many try, but most never get a reply.
We try to keep it courteous around here... talk comics, talk Panther, talk politics... talk women...etc.
And we defend ourselves from the occassional troll or flaming haterz.
peruse the past threads and post away.

I saw the graphic novel the Bride of the Panther in an Afrocentric bookstore ,and wondered why it was there. After reading it I fully understand why. Mr Hudlin thank you for writing a strong positive character along with exciting stories. I sometimes visit comic vine and I am amazed at some of the criticism that you get. They call you racist because you write a strong character who seeks peace but is always ready for war. They say you are racist because BP gets along with other Black people who understandably admire him. I buy your book and send it to others to check out. BP is an example to us all ,I appreciate the way you show him studying, working out and always being prepared. Thanks again for a great book. I know you will take the series the way you want to but I hope Tchalla will be back.
-
Thank you Warrior!
It's amazing how quickly white people say a black person is racist. It's all the trend these days.

Ah, just noticed I never did one of these.
My name's Greg and I'm a comic junkie. A lot of ya'll know me as that Doctor Voodoo guy. ;) I'm a big T'Challa fan as he's one of the few books I follow from the Big 2 as I'm mostly an Image/Indie reader. I'm an aspiring comic writer, film director, and actor and hope to get more minority characters out there. I registered here because this place seems like a good, fun community to actually discuss black characters without everyone thinking you're only into that character because s/he's black. ::) I have to confess that I haven't always been a big Hudlin fan. I was never a basher of his work, I just read a number of issues of his T'Challa run but felt it wasn't for me. But when the relaunch started, I felt Hudlin improved and have been more open to Hudlin's work ever since. And I honestly CAN NOT wait for the upcoming BP/Captain America mini. I'm very much pumped.
And fantastic work, Hudlin, on the two episodes of BP. You've made a happy fan out of me. :)

What's Up People,
I have been checking this message board out for a while. It seems cool, everybody seems tight and brings something a little different. This is my first official post, I hope to be able to add something to this little community of ours. As a little background, I am a big fan of Manga, but have being following the X-Men off and on. A couple months ago I got into The Black Panther (BP) - well I first got hip to Wakanda & Storm marrying T'Challa - that's what lead me to the Panther. I caught a deal at a comic book store and bought up all of Priest's (actually only missing a few), Hudlin's, and now Maberry's work - all of it was/is good work - they all added/adding a piece to BP's legacy. I still can't believe I'm just finding knowing about BP. Well, since then I have been and continue to spread the word to my circle of People - got some to start buying - after all its a business if you like it buy it or lose it.
Well that's all for now - Peace.
-

Well, after buying your BP books (which I liked- a lot) I looked you up on Google (for latest news type of thing), found this website -> this message board, then just monitored the interactions for awhile. I thought this message board had a good blend of objective critics and big time BP fans, and I made up my mind to get off the side lines & into the game. That's about it.

Salustrade in the house.
I've dropped a few posts on the forum but never formerly introduced myself.
I've been a fan of T'Challa and Wakanda from way back in the day but was never truly happy with the way he'd been portrayed until Christopher Priest revamped and revitalized the Black Panther via the Marvel Knights imprint.
Loved everything Priest did with T'Challa but really hated the Everett K .Ross character as I felt he trivialised the book somewhat.
Nonetheless, loved Priest's run for the most part and stayed with it till the end.
Reginald Hudlin's take on the character was unique and slightly different but it was no less grand than Priest's and I found myself once again caught up in the grandeur of T'Challa's adventures under the pen of someone who actually cared about the character enough to make him stand tall amongst other heavy hitters in the MU without fear or favour.
The real master stroke came with the marriage of T'Challa and Storm.
Watching haters pour out of the wood work to falsely accuse Mr Hudlin of being racist for pairing two people of African/African-American descent was hilarious as well as annoying but it was a truly great occasion that I really thank Mr Hudlin for orchestrating.
The introduction of Shuri into the mix was less welcomed by me and I'm even more pissed off that she's surplanted her brother as the "new" Black Panther in the issues leading up to Jonathan Maberry's Doomwar saga. (which I hate with a passion btw)
And I really wished Mr Hudlin ghad stayed on writing the main BP book so as to wrap up the Doom story in a much more satisfactory manner.
I thoroughly enjoyed Flags of Our Fathers and really look forward to Mr Hudlin penning more Black Panther related projects and can only dream that you return to writing the main book if Marvel ever decide to bring it back from hiatus/cancellation limbo.
Thanks for listening y'all.
Peace.

Hey Guys nice to meet and greet fellow Black Panther lovers :)
Just call me WOBH for short :P
I'm an online writer of sorts worked on Wikipedia and comicvine for couple years well now. I now run a few facebook pages most notably http://www.facebook.com/BlackHeroes and my new Blog http://worldofblackheroes.wordpress.com/ where I've reviewed all of Doomwar, Black Panther 1-12 and most of Hudlin's run.
I own all of Hudlins Black Panther run as well as Mabery and a slew of other Black superhero comics like Vixen return of the lion, War machine, Luke cage etc wont bore you with details :P lol
Like most of you I came in on the Hudlin train because of all the negatives I heard, always liked the preview art etc and frankly I just wanted to see what all the fuss was about and the first storyline sealed the deal ;D I'm now a die hard Black Panther fan and Hudlin defender (yay me) he actually told me about this place and that's why I'm here we've had a few exchanges over on facebook. While I don't think his run was "perfect" a few issues I couldn't care less for few but they do exist :P. Ive also recently purchased the priest run but only read #1.
I'm looking forward to seeing what marvel does with Shuri and T'challa and to review the whole thing too.
Nice to meet everyone and I hope to make lost of friends 8)
thanks

So good to be back in the congregation. Paster Reg, deacons, hope yall been doin well.
For newer folks, I used to be here under my typical webname "wgreason" and departed when the discussions motivated me to focus on political issues in my community for a couple years. I pledged to come back after I had elected Senator Barack Obama twice (carrying Pennsylvania), published my two books, and built my new business. With those five tasks accomplished, I had to come back and rejoin my friends here.
As always, for folks interested in making the most of educational opportunities worldwide, please visit my first website (www.waltergreason.com (http://www.waltergreason.com)).
For people looking to start new businesses or grow existing ones, please complete the short survey at my new site (www.icmetrogrowth.com (http://www.icmetrogrowth.com)).
It is so wonderful to rejoin the community.
Sincerely,
Metro
