Title: Reg Zombies? Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Post by: bluezulu on February 12, 2007, 05:37:18 pm
I HATE ZOMBIES. Some of the younger posters enlighten me to the new zombie craze, I just don't get it. I can tell you about penny loafers, parachute pants, colored levis and even when member's only jackets were not just worn by your grandfather. I just don't have a clue about zombies. Reg you killen me brah. But I will admit you are knocking the fanboys out of the park. You and marvel marketing of this book is out of this world. Of course Im going to check this one out but you better knock this one out of the park. :)

I don't care for zombies either--it may inspire me not to buy those issues.  (Though, probably not.)  But, from a marketing POV, it's smart.  Events help BP's sales.  Marriage boosted sales; CW crossover boosted sales; Zombies will boost sales, undoubtably.

Zombies rock. Amongst the coolest monsters ever. Something about them skeeves me out in a way that other things (vamps, werewolves, etc.) just don't.

I'm not big on Zombies myself, but the current Marvel Zombies are BIG and those original issues are worth some decent money.  Crossing over with them is smart on Reggie's part because that tunes the large following in on BP.  Those expecting/hoping that sales will drop after Civil War will have to wait longer.

I think it's a great idea! It's sounds fun and entertaining, plus it has an "old school" feeling to it.

Zombies? So far Panther fought Ninjas, Vampires, mutated animals and now Zombies? What's next? Dinosaurs? Wait a minute. He fought those in the Jack Kirby or Don McGregor run of his previous books. I say aliens should be next.

nah, next:  THE HULK.  Why should BP escape Hulk.

Actually, it's time for a war for wakanda with an alien nation.  Of course, after Annihlation, who would be a big question.  Annihulus's forces? The Kree?  A remenant of the Skrull nation looking to find a new home?  The Shi'ar, depending on how things turn out for them in X-titles.  Hmm, that could be interesting.  What if when all is said and done, the Shi'ar are no longer earth's allies and they aim their attentions at Wakanda and Storm?  Hmmm.

should be interesting.. let the mayhem begin..

side note-- that image has zombieThing with a hole in his head-- doesn't that kill a zombie?

I would like to see Panther and his wifey thrown down with Galactus.

1st Dora Milaje: "Should we call the Avengers?"

Panther: (running toward Galactus with two closed fists) "Why?"

2nd Dora Milaje: "Should we call the X-Men?"

Storm: (flying toward Galactus with lightning at her fingertips) "Say what now?"

I would also like to see how Panther and Storm would defeat the Juggernaut, since supposedly nothing can stop that dude. And how WOULD Panther and Storm outwit a rampaging Hulk in "World War Hulk?"

Actually, BP has already fought the Hulk, technically. Look back in Priest's run.

As far as the Shi'ar, I think that would be interesting. In fact, why not have X-men villians start appearing more in BP since his wife is an X-man. We've seen BP go up against Apocalypse in House of M. Who else should BP and Storm face?

I got to admit, I'm not too crazy about a zombie crossover either. I have always known about this Marvel genre but I pretty much ignored it. I never had any interest of picking up a zombie book in all this time. Well, if Hudlin is going to do this then I'll at least browse through it while still in the LCS. I'm open to giving Reggie a shot with this. If it seems good, then I'll pick it up. If turns out to be lame, then it will be one issue (or story arc) I will just avoid keep it out of my BP collection. :-\

The zombie crossover looks mad crazy and I am really looking forward to it, it shows that this book going to be an unpredictable ride. I love how the boundaries are expanding.

So true, I got so sick of priests run where you knew what was going to happen even before the arc ended. Reg has made a committment to expand BP into the larger 616 universe, and I applaud him for it. I'm sure we will get a akanda arc this year but for now I like the direction of the book.

Arcade. I like to see how Black Panther would fare in Murderworld. Maybe Achebe or Princess Zanda could hire Arcade to take care of Black Panther and Storm.

I also vote for The Hellfire Club. I'm sure there's a South Africa Branch. Hell they have a London and Japanese Branch.

If they take him on currently, it wouldn't be that hard.  Huggernaut is stoppable.

Well. Wakanda has its own dinosaurs (Serpent Valley, anyone?) so I can see T'Challa have a rematch with the dinos.  What's really cool is Storm has lots of experience battling dinos and will put a very fresh spin on this fight.

I say aliens should be next.

Well, Black Panther will fight Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four.  So expect aliens to invade the BP comic proper in the near future.

Very true.  This reminds me of the classic Uncanny X-Men comics which balanced out the "anti-mutant prejudice" stories with more escapist stories in which the merry mutants fought prehistoric monsters, aliens, and ancient wizards.

So, Black Panther, Storm and the rest of the FF taking on the undead superheroes of Marvel Zombies is a masterstroke.  It's also a refreshing and fun change from the recent trend of raping and/or killing supporting characters to boost sales.

Let's not forget that Black Panther has a contingency plan against Galactus as revealed in the last series. I would like to see what that plan against Galactus used in action. I wonder if Black Panther would get to meet Thanos?

Someone on the V p ointed out that if BP goes to the Zombie Universe, it's the closest we've come to a 616/Ultimate Crossover. For instance, he might run into Ultimate Doom there, after he banished himself there in UFF.

I love zombie movies and comics.  I love Black Panther comics.  Now I can get the two, for the price of one?!?!?!  Excellent.

I just remembered something, BP was one of the few remaining human's that survived the zombie outbreak in the Marvel Zombieverse. You can't keep the panther down!

Panther teaming up with Bionic-limbed panther? Good point! ;D Remember in Marvel Zombies when Panther took down two opponents after having had his arm and leg cut off? Damn!
