Title: Mastrmynd presents: You Choose: BET's Animnation Domination
Post by: Mastrmynd on February 08, 2008, 01:47:06 pm
That's right!
Imagine if BET had Saturday morning or even Saturday afternoon Cartoon Programming.
Now imagine that you could choose the cartoon block.
Hmm... i'm being generous.

I'll give you 3 hours of cartooning at the most.
2 hours at minimum.

What do you show?

Me, I'll start it off with "Static Shock" and "Fat Albert 2K8" (same fat albert but with behind the scenes commentary going into commercial breaks...or a ticker scrollin' at the bottom with behind teh scenes secrets of that episode.  No wait... POP UP VIDEO Fat Albert! YES!)

BET needs animation blocks what with SCI-FI and fuse getting in on the act, but it is a giant step backwards to put Fat Albert back into play, Static is an obvious choice but where do you go from there? I would suggest the JLA/JLU and the Xmen Unlimited, as well as Savage Dragon, COPS, for the daylight hours. Midnight to 2am how about something a little edgy like The Maxx, Spawn, or Gary the Rat!

Well, BET's got the new Milestone cartoon and Hannibal still to come. Plus, wasn't Will Smith producing a cartoon for the channel? Static Shock would be a great addition to those.

a new milestone cartoon?

He might be talking about the cartoon Dwayne McDuffie is working on...but it's not a Milestone cartoon.

oh, okay.
that's different.
thanx for the clarification 'cuz i might go try to find some milestone books if they made a JLU-esque Milestone cartoon series for BET.

All of the black cartoon voices would be on there:
David Keith
Phil Lamarr
Cree Summer
"Uncle Phil"
Cree Summer (had to say her twice...she's ALWAYS workin')
Michael Beach

I always thought Jada Pinkett Smith should do a superhero voice. She is/was into comics. At one time she was supposed to have written a comic for Liefeld's company (I think it was Liefeld).

As I understood, it, it's been co-created with Denys Cowan, and is an original character. Maybe I just assumed that made it Milestone (I should probably go and check).

i do remeber it. COPS... as a youngster, i sure did luv Miss Demeanor. Her and Bulletproof Vest had this batman-catman thing goin' on.
i wonder how that show would fair in repeats in this day and age.

It would be cool to have "The last dragon" cartoon on B.E.T. I think animation will bring more folks to the network. I believe that BP is going to be mega huge for the BET. If BP does well than more is sure to come, maybe even a Blade series.

An Icon Series would be out of this world cool! A Hardware series 2! Hell, why not the whole Milestone universe? It could be similar to JLA unlimited!

Yeah, call it Dakota Unlimited!  As well as an Emissary cartoon based on the comic and a Blade 'toon made by the anime folks who did Claymore or Black Lagoon.

I think Blade needs to be shelved for awhile in order to erase the stench of the trilogy movie and the TV series, that being said if blade was animated I would prefer that it be done similarly to Gotham Knight let's see a broad interpretation of blade by various japanese animation studios
