Title: Ultimate Avengers 2
Post by: zulu801 on July 26, 2006, 06:54:39 pm
Let me post this under Latest Flicks since this is a DVD flick (thank you for your suggestion C):

Comic-Con had it and Wizard Con in Chitown will have it:  special screening of UA2 Rise of the Panther (I love the title).  I am not going to attend the screen at Wizard, due to the fact certain panels will be starting as the movie will be on.  I'll rather wait til 08/08.  A brother from local comic shop went to SD and he viewed UA2.  He said this was better than LY UA DVD (IMO of course) and he loved it and others he talked to said the same thing

IMO, summer 2006 is a year for BP.

anyhow.... did anyone get any feedback from people who went to SD and viewed UA2?

anybody know about any "exclusives" that will come depending on what store you get it at?  I got pt. 1 at Target, and it had a CD-Rom with Hulk #1 ..

I just watched Ultimate Avengers 2.
It was ok. I fell asleep after about half way through.
There was only on big fight scene, which was ok.

I had a big problem with the inconsistencies regarding the Wakandan Security force.
It was rather weak for the most technologically advanced nation on Earth.

On a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a 5.

The Ultimate Avengers gag reel was great though!

Question for ya.... how did you purchased UA2 when 08/08 is the release date?  Oh maybe I could answer my own question:  bootleg copy from SDCC?

Don't know what SDCC is.

But it wasn't bootleg. My comicshop has had it since last Thursday.

I'm in Brooklyn.

Just one of the perks, I guess.

Just a note, I don't believe at any point did they claim that Wakanda was the most technologically advanced nation on Earth.  That's a claim of the comic book version, but this isn't the comic book version.

I liked it better than the first Ultimate Avengers movie, but I still think it falls short of matching the JLA first movie or the JLA Starcrossed movie.

Watched Ultimate Avengers 1&2 yesterday.  They were both pretty decent. The only peeve I've got with the second one is panther's costume.  He looks too much like a male stripper.

i finally saw the ultimates II and i can say i enjoyed it. i actually fell asleep on it half way through the first night (was long day at work) and finished it today. was not as good as the first one but i enjoyed it because of the black panther. the costume did not suck as bad as i thought it would but it was mostly becasuse of the vibranium projectile gloves. i loved the fact that they powered tchalla up by making the panther god posses him. it was real bad ass when he ripped ol boy in 4s. overall 7 out of 10.

It was okay I think the first UA was better kinda seems like wakanda was de-powered how could the Avengers enter Wakandan Airspace and not be detected? If the Wakandans were smart enough to adapt Alien tecnology to power their weapons then why are they still armed with spears, bows, and catapults?! T'challa is supposed to be the undisputed ruler of Wakanda and yet he is removed from power? and his council is suspiscious of outsiders? The Avengers themselves seemed to be confident in thier actions but T'challa had to prove himself both as a King and a Hero

My daughter and I watched UA2 together and we liked the movie better than UA, but we both thought BP's character in the movie would have been similar like BP's character in the comics (pick any writer's run Priest or Reg).  I want to know how in the hell BP could not sense Black Widow approaching him in the jungle w/ guns pointing at him and he seemed to be caught off guard?  Can you repeat after me....." the writers went to sleep on that one" (old skool phrase used back in tha day).  I know I'm not the only one who picked that scene out and said "hell naw that aint right"

Ah, common stunt:  sacrifice logic for a cool stunt.  Her gun popping up at his forehead, unawares is a cool stunt.  Or rather a cliche stunt.  But then again, this is the Black Widow.  There isn't a more dangerous woman on earth.

Nah, the scene I surprised that no one has complained about.  A sleeping Captain America takes out BP like a rank amateur. Cap is sleeping, and on an instant of waking up he throws BP out the window, and controls his dive out of the window, surfing down the side, and BP can't get balanced until he hit the ground?

How about T'challa the King having to sneak Cap into the palace so his court council wont know that he broke the Law!

good stuff, actionwise, though I was expecting the Wakandans to be more high-tech.. (apparently, much/most of it was salvaged tech from the Chitauri ship?)

... I figured Giant-Man would be the one to bite it in the end..
..I'm glad the Hulk escaped..

anyone else a little PO'd that all the wakandan's had spears and shields and sh*t?

What the f*ck?  I mean, Stan and Jack back in the day had them in the technojungle with ray guns and sh*t.

Reg said they didn't even ask him about nothin', and I'm wondering why, cause they didn't want to piss him off with the dopey ass sh*t they already had planned?  Other than the spears, I liked the movie, but man, I'm a little PO'd at the "jungling down" of the wakandans...

true indeed.. I would have figured they'd make Wakanda hi-tech all the way around, not just T'chaka's secret chamber and the robot sentry towers.. it's intimated that they just cherrypicked tech from the downed Chitauri vessel starting back in WWII... instead of developing their own independently..  :-\

again, this is the 'ultimate' animated universe.. 616 is still intact, I guess.. and if they were to do a Panther solo feature, they don't necessarily have to hew to the Ultimate Avengers continuity, since the upcoming Iron Man and Dr. Strange are thematically separate.. So there's still hope for Reggie's first arc to be done as a stand-alone feature.. whooo!  Get Dwayne McDuffie involved as a producer and booyah!

I just finished viewing it.  It was enjoyable but not as good as the first one.  The first one had those two great action sequences.  The WWII scene and the Hulk rampage were the highlights of the first movie.  This one didn’t have any sequences that measured up to those two action scenes.  BP was portrayed well.  The Wakandans should have been shown as being more hi-tech but I wasn’t bothered by the way they were depicted.  If they do a third movie or series I hope they include BP again.  I will probably give it a second viewing this weekend.

I liked the first movie. The scene where Hulk was crushing the avengers is classic! I feel that the writers were'nt comfortable with a Black Man being as strong as reggies' T'challa so they gave us Tchalla lite

Does this mean that you do not view Nick Fury as a strong Black Man?

Nick Furys' character is unchanged just his skin tone
