Title: Independent Comic Book Companies
Post by: masigl4179 on November 08, 2010, 09:01:58 pm
I was sorting through my comics and I ran across 7 brothers by Virgin Comics and Ruse by Crossgen and it got me thinking. What comics by Independent Comic book companies do you enjoy reading the most right now and which ones do you miss the most if the publishing company folded. For the sake of this conversation lets say that independent comics are anything outside of Marvel and DC. To start off, I enjoy reading Irredeemable by Boom  and The Boys by Dynamite right now,but I really miss Negation by Crossgen

Very much digging IRREDEEMABLE from Boom.

CROSSED from Avatar.

Did SUPERGOD finish?  Want more of that.

All the different HELLBOY permutations from Dark Horse.

LOVE AND ROCKETS when it appears.

I enjoyed Star Wars:  Legacy, but that has just ended, but a mini-series based on it is about to begin.

Invincible. (Along with spin-offs like Guardians of the Globe.)

yeah, it is ill.  Definitely needs bagging.  In the same catagory, NECROMICON.

I forgot to mention WALKING DEAD, but that should be on my indie list too.  Along with INVINCEABLE and SAVAGE DRAGON.

For some reason I can see a RH hero drawn in the style we see in Invincible or Wolfman.  Don't know why.

(Hey Reggie, have you read Invincible 75?  Wanna ask you a question about it, but don't want to spoil it.)

Is that the latest issue?  The war in space?  Yes.

Do you think that Oliver is really dead?  Part of me is hoping his insect heritage might save him; and Invincible did survive some impressive wounds previously.

Yeah, I don't think he's dead either.

Reggie! You're not playing games with my heart, are you?!?!  :o :o

Will it be too early to even get a slight idea what you may be going for, etc?

I've got two stories that are outlined.  But I'm swamped with film and TV stuff right now. I've got to get that handled, then deal with comics.

Can't wait. Very much looking forward to it.

As to Indie books I love:

Bulletproof Coffin (Awesomeness wrapped in a bow)
The Walking Dead
Invincible
Savage Dragon
Bomb Queen
Dynamo 5
Firebreather
Golly!
The Darkness
Elephantmen
Chew
Mice Templar
The Perhapanauts
Proof
Hellboy
Madman
Scott Pilgrim

Pretty much everything from Radical Comics

My favorite all time GN is Strange Embrace.

If I had bread, I would be buying a crap load of other Indie books, especially some that aren't on the Previews book.
