Hey, guys. I know a few of y'all have gotten the first volume or 2 of my comic series, Is'nana the Were-Spider. Just wanted to share the upcoming one-shot and the Kickstarter for it. It's called The Ballads of Rawhead & John Henry.

Two stories, one highlighting John Henry, the legend and hero, this time in a Robot Apocalypse and then a story in the South where the boogeymen Rawhead and Bloody Bones are haunting twin boys.

Currently doing the Kickstarter now and for those who are behind or new to the series, there are tiers to get the books on discount. Would be awesome to have your support and of course to help spread it around to fam, friends, and social media.

Congratulations. You're from Haiti?

My parents are. I was born in Brooklyn. But I did spend a few years in Haiti in my youth.

I liked it better than American Gods  myself. Felt more personal.

Hey, guys, so guess what? Last Friday on Haitian Flag Day, Is'nana the Were-Spider was able to pick up 3 Glyph Awards. For those who don't know, the Glyph Awards awards excellence in Black centered and based comic books. I'm seriously honored, especially looking at the past winners of each individual category I got awarded for.

Other Comics / The Gentleman: Darkness of the Void (My next comic!)
« on: May 03, 2018, 08:03:39 am »
Hey, everyone! The Kickstarter for the next book I'm writing, THE GENTLEMAN: DARKNESS OF THE VOID, is up and running. Be sure to check the video for the dope images, art, and concept! And don't forget, if you're interested in pledging/donated, Kickstarter doesn't take any dime from your account until the end of the campaign at the end of the month.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/782290703/the-gentleman-1-darkness-of-the-void#

A Lovecraftian inspired horror noir story about the haunting ghosts from the past along with the ghosts from the forth coming future, the Gentleman finds himself drawn to Espere St. Lanmé, mysterious and alluring, seeking help and protection from a being of possibly supernatural origins. Unfortunately to protect her, Oliver must succumb to his special abilities, a hereditary curse that uses his body as a key and vessel to the Void, an ancient evil with the means to destroy all life as we know.

Can Oliver protect Espere without losing his humanity? And if he can, can she be trusted? What is her connection to Oliver and the Void itself?

Congratulations!!

Plan to start pitching it as an animated series?

Thanks so much! Not at this moment. Right now I just want to focus on the book and getting more of his stories and mythos out. Maybe a couple years down the line.

One of my all time favorite books. It's so good.

I lent it to someone and never got it back. I'll have to buy it again and it's totally worth it.

Have you read Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman?

I just started, but it is good as well as funny.

Looks like the same people whondid the event at Temple a couple years ago.

Ah! The BSAM event. I don't think I'll be able to but I'll see if I can. Is that where you're located?

No but D.C is driving distance. Although it looks like it is the same weekend as AwesomCon. I probably won't be able to go.

I just signed up for the event at Howard. I'll be there!

HThe first volume of my book IS'NANA THE WERE-SPIDER has finally been reprinted. It's on sale again on Amazon and was wondering if anyone would be interested in copping a copy. You can order from Amazon or get it directly from me.

It's a horror, fantasy coming of age book about the son of Anansi the Spider having to live up to his father's legacy while seeking his own place in the world. I'm also using this series as a gateway to introduce readers to more Black myths and spiritual figures, from African myths to Caribbean stories to Afro-American folktales.
