Creating Art: Conversations with African American Artists Series

FREE

Reginald Hudlin, President of Black Entertainment Television (BET) and a comic book writer for Marvel’s Black Panther and Spider-Man series will discuss the African American presence in comics – both behind the scenes as creators and in the pages themselves as characters. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A with the audience and a reception.

The Creating Art: Conversations with African American Artist series is made possible by a grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation.

I'm another one for Coipel. That X-men cover he did of storm in the rain should have one cover of the year.

Do you you mean this one? For UXM #449:

The artist who drew this cover is Greg Land. Coipel did the interior pencils.

I'd like to see Olivier Coipel pencilling the book. He did a great job with BP in the "Red Zone" arc in Avengers. And I really like how on his cover to #16 he positioned BP crawling don the tree like a cat would.

I really like this new artist, he's got a nice classic style.

It is really weird how Reed's all chummy now that Cap surrendered...

I have a sneaking suspicion that T'Challa is going to deal with those Negative Zone bugs diplomatically.

I just want to see the MZ Black Panther say to the regular one, "You think you've got problems?? Hank Pym ate my $*%#ing leg!!"

While not a mention of the Black Panther, Stephen Colbert received Captain America's shield the other night on the Colbert Report rapped it with his knuckles and said, “That’s the sound of indestructible Wakandan Vibranium.”

That's good PR for the entire Wakandan nation.

Hey, glad everyone liked the article.

Curtis, I don't remember when they said the animated programs would start. Hannibal and Cipha are still in production so not for awhile.

It should be interesting to see where the story goes now that BP and Storm are on the losing side.

I thought the art in this issue was a lot more consistent and at time reminiscent of Jim Cheung.

I'd just been thinking before I read the comic about what would happen if Monica Rambeau fought Bishop. Would he be able to absorb her entire body if it was in energy form? Apparently not.

I was lucky enough to get invited to a media reception BET held to premiere their animation block. It was a great night and I felt very privileged to sit there with the real journalists and talk with Reggie, Denys Cowan and Michael Davis. Though Michael kept teasing me for never having gone to San Diego Comic Con despite writing for a website called "ComicBookConventions.com"...

You can read the article I wrote about it here.

Thanks again Reggie!

But in general, Dane hates that blade and is probably very content to let someone else deal with it.

What's the Ebony Blade's deal again?? I recall there was some kind of curse on it...

When did the House of M & Scarlet Witch's altering reality become public knowledge anyway? I didn't think Storm was one of the people who remembered what had happened. Did X-Factor announce it when they found out from Spider-Man?

Just read it.......Freaking awesome!!!!

Tony gives a snide-ass remark asking BP if he's gonna get "medieval" on him, and immediately afterwards, BP bitch-slaps Tony and slices his armor down the middle.  I only wish he woulda cut his heart out.  And storm should've lightning-ed the hell outta Tony after his condescending comment towards her.

Ok -- I'm not a regular Iron Man reader, how did his armor "heal"?

Tony has been controlling IM drones by remote. That's why there were many of them in the last two pages. The question is whether or not BP was aware of this...?

**SPOILERS**

I like the idea of BP and Storm going on Oprah. "...everyone in the audience is getting a cold fusion powered flying car!!!"

I think there's going to be more X-Men participation than Emma thinks. Why else would Kitty Pryde have been shown eavesdropping on her conversation? Besides there can't be any argument over whose side Kitty would choose.

What's with the shadowy figure bossing Ross around at the State Dept? What happened to Condi Reese?
