Black Panther / Re: John Ridley's Black Panther series
« on: December 28, 2021, 12:24:40 pm »
Liked the first issue better than the second. I'm subscribed for the first 12, so I'm still waiting to see where Ridley is going to take T'Challa and the story. So far I am liking his colder, harder edged T'Challa.

Yes! The T'challa sh*tting on the facade of democracies and being blunt about dictatorships is more of the T'challa I know that spied on the Avengers and didn't trust them then that castrated cat Coates wrote I put up with for years.

Loving it so far. And I think the ringleader is hunter.

Well that would make sense and I feel kind of newbieish for not thinking about Hunter.

Just read issue no. 1. Pretty refereshing for me which is much due to no more of Coates boring writing. How is everyone else liking it?  Who do you think is responsible for taking out the Wakanda sleeper agents?

Black Panther / Re: Avengers Tech-On Avengers

Anyone checked this one out?

If you dug Avengers Mech Strike, you may dig this. Red Skull plays Thanos with similar powers to the Infinity Gauntlet that allow him to make all heroes powerless thus Tony Starks creating mech suits for all Avengers to defeat him. One of the best parts is T'challa coming to the rescue to save everyone however his intelligence is downplayed again as when Starks refers to himself as the greatest mind, Spider-Man asks if he is Reed Richards while T'challa was in the room at the same time. Also, while Mech-Strike had T'challa and Starks creating the suits together, this story only indicates it was all Starks. Other than that, great story with fantastic art, I love the anime stylings.

It's a pretty cool story to me. I just get confused if these are elseworlds stories or part of continuity. I think Mech Strike was part of main continuity.

.

None of these are in continuity. They are part of the ad campaign to sell next toys. The previous miniseries toys are available now.

Ok, yeah I got the Mech Strike funko pop of T'challa

I like your breakdown. This story translates as: Colonizers are dope with a side order of "DISS THE BRUTHA". So that's a big ole NOPE of a story for me.

I gave it a skim. He did have one smart moment when he easily hacked the Skulls base door.

oh yeah, you're right! Plus he saved everyone and held off Skull so he was pretty bad ass the way I'm used to T'challa being in comics

Hudlin TV / What If Killmonger saved Tony Stark episode (spoilers)
« on: September 15, 2021, 09:12:23 am »
"Why wear the uniform of your oppressors?"
-Kill
"You have to be a part of the system to change it"
-War Machine
""Nah, you can burn it down"
-Kill
This ep solidifies Killmonger as the best villain in the MCU even if they pretty much turned him into a more intelligent Moses Magnum

Really dug this ep, how many times T'challa gotta be killed in the MCU though? Sheesh

Milestone Media / OG Blood Syndicate issue 1
« on: August 30, 2021, 11:15:01 am »
DC Milestone was the best when it came out. Seen so many racy comics that have come out since that are extreme for extreme's sake and have shock value for lack of creativity in many Punisher and other Garth Ennis related material as well as things like Stormwatch and The Authority and the Elite but Blood Syndicate is the OG and everything in this series had a reason for it and was necessary, from Wise Son's cursing to all the extreme violence. Best part is when the reporter gets her head blown off and Flashback goes back in time for 3 seconds to save her. Holocaust just says to Flashback "tell your friend to be more careful" after he burns a man into ashes. McDuffie was ahead of his time and his career later showed and proved that. Cover art by Cowan and Palmiotti as well as pencils by Black Lightning alumni Trevor Von Eeden are all icing on the cake to one of the best issue no. 1 comics ever!

Other Comics / Batman 89

got the reg and variant issues of Batman 89. I also remember that Marlon Wayans was to play Robin who I think shows up in this series as well. I'm pretty sure that's him at the end of the first issue.

The first hour of playing as T'challa is cool but then it goes back to the same old boring Avengers game. Judge said in negotiations to play T'challa that one of the requirements was that the Avengers couldn't be coming to Wakanda to save them but instead to get help. I appreciated that.

Black Panther / anyone read Avengers Mech Strike?
« on: August 18, 2021, 09:27:37 am »
Avengers Mech Strike with Kang as the antagonist has some pretty interesting developments happen with T'challa and Thanos. Not sure if any of these things get referenced in the main Avengers comics but they certainly are significant.
