Other Comics / The African Origin of Superheroes
« on: June 02, 2014, 03:59:49 pm »
Has anyone else listened to the audio from this YouTube video? It goes into the explanation of how superheroes have African origins/concepts:

Hello everyone,

I've started the petition "Marvel Entertainment: Marvel Entertainment, please publish Christopher Priest's monumental 62-issue "Black Panther" series from 1998 - 2003, either in trade paperback form or in two omnibuses." and need your help to get it off the ground. Each time someone signs the petition, Marvel Entertainment will receive an e-mail.

Will you take 30 seconds to sign it right now? Here's the link:

Here's why it's important:

Currently, Mr. Priest's "Black Panther" series has only been collected in two paperback collections called "The Client" (Issues 1 - 5) and "Enemy Of The State" (Issues 6 - 12).

All of the other "Black Panther" series from other writers before Mr. Priest and after Mr. Priest have been collected in their entirety, which makes the incomplete collection of Mr. Priest's "Black Panther" series very noticeable.

The complete collection of Mr. Priest's "Black Panther" series will not only allow long-time Black Panther fans to complete their collections, but it will also allow newer Black Panther enthusiasts to have the complete definitive run at their fingertips, especially in time for Black Panther's 50th anniversary in 2016.

Thank you for your time.

Black Panther / Suppose DoomWar Was The 1st Black Panther/Storm Novel?
« on: February 24, 2010, 04:39:56 pm »
How great would it be if DoomWar was turned ino a full-length novel...the first in a LINE of novels featuring Black Panther, Storm and their kingdom of Wakanda?

In the DoomWar novel, we could get a more detailed and in-depth exploration into T'Challa, Ororo, Shuri, Doctor Doom and all the other players...

What do you all think?

Other Comics / Writing Female Characters In Comics: Wonder Woman-related
« on: January 29, 2010, 09:22:25 am »
I found the following quote by current Wonder Woman author Gail Simone over on the DC Comics forum...I thought it was interesting. Her quote came out of a discussion where a poster was criticizing her for her characterization/portrayal of Wonder Woman:

Gail Simone: "I mentioned this on Twitter because I just found it so oddball. Here's what the writer of Fables said, that I thought was pretty funny.

Welcome to the world of: If you're writing a woman character at all, you're doing it wrong."

Other Comics / Female Geniuses In the 616 Marvel Universe?
« on: December 18, 2009, 05:52:35 am »
Aside from Monet St. Croix from X-Factor and Valeria Richards (Reed Richards' THREE-year-old daughter!!!!!!), are there any female geniuses in the Marvel Universe?

Black Panther / The King, The Queen & Disney/Pixar
« on: December 08, 2009, 02:07:21 pm »
When/if the Marvel Comics/Disney merger is approved by Marvel's shareholders, would a Disney/Pixar "Incredibles"-type movie work for King T'Challa, Queen Ororo and their potential heirs?

Would their be any drawbacks to featuring Storm and Panther in a Disney/Pixar animated film?

Would their be any benefits?

Would the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, or vice-versa?

Since comic book statue sculptor Randy Bowen is currently asking people for statues they want made of Marvel characters in a potential Phase 5, what are some of your ideas about Black Panther and Storm statues that you would like to see? Here is what Randy said on October 27th:

"If BD (Bowen Designs) is able to get a license for Phase 5; What characters should be on the list? As bust or statue? What era or uniform? Try to be specific. Keep in mind which groups need to be completed, and what would make for good "sets".
I can't make any promises, but your opinion matters!"

Perhaps we can quickly get some of our ideas together and submit them to this website:

It is probably a good idea for us all to start "representing" over on that website...someone has to keep all of those Iron Man, Wolverine, Hulk, Spider-Man and Thor fans in check!

I think that the more of us from this forum ask for Black Panther and Storm on that website, the more our voices will be heard.

Now when Randy Bowen said sets, I was thinking of asking for a "King and Queen" set of various Marvel characters, most especially Black Panther and Storm. I'm wondering how a statue of Storm in her wedding dress would look...

What Black Panther and Storm statue sets/costumes/eras would you all like to see get made by Bowen Designs?

Here is a great video showing the Black Panther's moves as a downloadable character for the Ultimate Alliance 2 video game:

I also love the short description in the article text about Panther's powers...I definitely think he should be way more athletic and have way more agility than Spider-Man. When comparing the agility of a spider and a cat, the cat should ALWAYS win in this category.

Black Panther / Prey Of The Black Panther: Fantastic Four Cartoon Episode
« on: October 23, 2009, 11:47:14 pm »
Did you all enjoy this episode when you first saw it? Do you still like this episode to this day?

Was it better or worse than the "Panther's Prey" episode of Iron Man Armored Adventures?

Or are both episodes great in their own way?

Black Panther / Making The Black Panther and Storm Marriage Last Forever
« on: October 21, 2009, 09:05:17 am »
Is there a way to guarantee/ensure that Black Panther's marriage to Storm will last forever?

How do you make this royal marriage last forever in the same way that the Sue/Reed Richards and Medusa/Black Bolt marriages seem to be intended to last forever?

Marvel Executive Editor Tom Brevoort said the following on his blog about characters becoming members of Avengers teams:

Tom Brevoort: I don't think that any character has to be an Avenger-which is why there are so many characters who haven't really been a part of that team. By that same token, though, especially right now, bringing a character into AVENGERS is an easy way to expose them to a lot of readers, to make them feel significant to the Marvel universe as a whole, and to give them the best chance of success.

It seems like we are definitely on the right track with wanting Storm and Black Panther to be members of the New Avengers...

So how soon will our writing campaign to Marvel begin?

I saw this discussion about a Storm solo series on Comic Book Resources:
