Feel The Funk / Versus: Predictions/Nominations
« on: May 02, 2020, 01:24:26 pm »
This weeks matchup is Erykah Badu vs Jill Scott

Prediction- Erykah Badu is not only unique, she is uniquely Erykah Badu. What she was able to capture with BADUIZM became a cultural moment. Most people can tell you where they were and what was happening in their life when BADUIZM came out. Jill Scott is a great singer and performer who has a great catalog of songs but she doesn't have a BADUIZM. If this came down to a performance I think Jill Scott wins hands down but for this battle

Winner- Erykah BADU

Nomination- Chaka Khan vs Patti Labelle

Feel The Funk / Surfaces,"Sunday Best" and Stevie Wonder
« on: March 17, 2020, 07:32:42 pm »
I know there isn't an official Stevie Wonder sample for Surfaces "Sunday Best" song but I know it is connected to one of Wonders' hits.

I can't remember which one though!

I know, Reggie, may use this as a chance for vengeance but I could use some help figuring this out! 8)

Hudlin TV / The End Of Gayle King and Oprah Winfrey
« on: February 09, 2020, 02:57:55 pm »
There are moments where you can exactly pinpoint a seismic shift in popular culture.

The interview with Gayle King and Lisa Leslie and its aftermath is one of them.

The attacks on Black men through the use of Black women acting as proxies has reached a point of critical mass through the King interview. Unlike, Dr. Cosby, Kobe Bryant's celebrity coalesced perfectly with the age of mass media, social media, and the incalculable passion attached to sports fandom. The level of support Bryant has now will translate to all those associated with prior attacks on Black men being the focal point of dissent along with King and Oprah.

They made one attack too many and now they are paying the price for it.

Now that I have done the HEAVY LIFTING of declaring a date for the premiere, all Reggie and Tarantino have left are the minor logistics of getting a budget, cast, screenplay, and filming schedule in order.

Vox Populi / On Kanye, Trump, Betrayal, and Coonism
« on: October 17, 2018, 08:26:03 pm »
Like everyone else I watched the spectacle that took place with Kanye West in The Oval Office with President Trump. The backlash against Kanye's performance by several Black critics has been withering and unrelenting. What I find interesting is the utter HYPOCRISY that is taking place in terms of allegiances and public perception.

Through both The Crime Bill and Welfare Reform Act both President and Senator Clinton has had more of a detrimental impact upon The Black community than President Trump ever has. When this is taking into consideration, why isn't it the standard for someone to become a pariah in The Black community for aligning much less meeting with The Clintons?

This past week has illustrated the fundamental lack of both self awareness and political knowledge present in those that are given a platform to represent the interests of The Black community. Why aren't Snoop Dogg, Diddy, and T.I. coons for supporting those whose reforms have both imprisoned and impoverished more Black people in Long Beach, Harlem, and Atlanta than anyone in the present administration?

Hey, Reggie, I'm watching AJ Johnson's interview with Vlad and he talks about battling the legendary Robin Harris in a roast session during HOUSE PARTY. Johnson goes on to say that you CUT all of his comebacks against Harris.

By the powers vested in me as a Wakandan ELDER of the HEF I hereby DEMAND to see the UNCUT version of the AJ Johnson VS Robin Harris showdown!!!
