Black Panther / Landing Upright

Landing Upright
After watching all of the animated versions of Black Panther I could find, I noticed he gets knocked off his feet way too often. Getting hit is one thing, but being flung or blasted to the ground is very un-catlike. Not only is falling on oneís ass un-catlike, itís also not typical of someone trained in the various martial arts (think capoeira). I realize his power set states acute senses with superhuman agility and reflexes, but perhaps the animators need explicit detail to express this in-action.

A possible solution (to be written is his permanent power set): TíChallaís vestibular apparatus has been altered by the vibranium mutated heart-shaped herb, resulting in him having an enhanced labyrinthine righting reflex. Plainly stated, even when The Panther gets struck, heíll more than likely land upright.

I donít recall it having been so, but let me know if this has been addressed here or in the comics.

Hudlin TV / Message From The King (Netflix)

Chadwick Boseman's 'Message From The King' on Netflix. Decent watch worth a look, a slow burning throw-back to the 60's to 70's revenge flicks. Not a whole lot of action, but enough to keep you intrigued throughout.

Black Panther / Into the Habit
« on: July 19, 2017, 06:35:18 am »
After pouring over the EW pics and D23 pics, I want to expound on the design of the Black Panther habit. In my opinion the new suit is perfectly fine, but it steps outside of the conventional design cues, where the Civil War suit inhabits it masterfully.

These are just some generalizations of tried and true design forms.

Straight Lines/Angles = Masculine, Manufactured, Intimidating; Often used to emphasize Powerfulness and Tech in design (Think skyscrapers, weaponry, and menís fashion). </^I>[]_

Curved Lines/Orbs = Feminine, Organic, Welcoming; Often used to emphasize Sexiness and Speed in design (Think muscle cars, superbikes, womenís fashion). ~$()S&

The Civil War suits lines are sharp, interlocking and uniformed. They make great use of the chevron/pyramidal shape that spans ĎThe Great Continentí.

The new suit seems less angular with more curves, especially the mouth part and ears. What it does do great though, in my opinion, is the micro pyramids contrasting all over the suit like high-tech chainmail.

Meanwhile the other outfits are adorned with interlocking or interweaving linear flares of the CW suit.

Those are my observations; Iíd love to hear yours.

Black Panther / Decoded/Decode it
« on: July 10, 2017, 06:44:39 am »
Art is subjective and it can be a challenge for artist to pull off messages within their images. The viewer sees what they see, and often read more insightful symbolism than the artist intended.
So, if youíd like, letís decode this fan-art piece.

Hereíre some purposefully grafted in story elements.
1.   The 3 Wakandans gestures are in sync with the Panther God.
2.   Thereís circuitry in the gold, so itís functional not decorative.
3.   TíChalla and Shuri have markings, allowing communion with unseen forces.

Those are some surface level cues; tell me what story elements you gleam from this pic. Thanks for participating.

Black Panther / Your Genesis
« on: June 17, 2017, 12:49:58 pm »
Iím seeing a lot of newcomers to the Black Panther via the awesome teaser, so I thought Iíd ask you longtime fans your genesis.

1.   What were your first issues and/or arc starring TíChalla?
2.   What made you pick it up/buy it? IE. Someone told you about it. Someone gave it to you. Cover.
3.   Have you given and/or recommended these to others?

Myself.
1.   The 4-Issue limited series from Gillis and Cowan.
2.   That Denys Cowan/Sam DeLaRosa Cover.

The imagery is striking, haunting, and powerful.
3.   Iíve rebought most of the Black Panther TPBs to give to my nephews, the Legends action figure as well. I also give away my Black Panther DVD (Hudlinís) every time a guest shows interest in it (3 or 4 so far).
