General Discussion / Re: The Black KKK: Uncle Ruckus Strikes Again
« on: November 30, 2007, 09:39:36 am »
At some point I would like to believe that opportunism, even the most base kind gets put aside during certain instances, tragedy being amongst them. This belief is in vain while individuals like Jason Whitlock aka HouseNigger Dujour roam the Earth.

Before the late Jason Taylor's body became cold, Mr. Whitlock took the opportunity to yet again reduce the complexities of crime, poverty and miseducation to being the result of rap music. The inability to support this obviously cheap, predatory and pathetic scapegoating of Rap music would be sufferable if the forces coalescing around this paradigm weren't being given legitimacy.

In Mr. Whitlocks world; life in the Black community exists in a vacum where the realities of miseducation (as enhanced by NCLB), Unemployment and sexism are all non-existant outside of their attachment to Rap. A genre of music in his twisted myopic view is capable of supplanting not only centuries of inequality; but ironically enough personal responsibility as well in determining the reality of Black existence.

What doesn't fit the Rap menace paradigm is that 80% of the music produced from the genre is purchased by Whites. If Rap has not only a correlation but a causatory link to violence, crime and sexism; why don't we see the same level of these pathologies in the White community as we do the Black community? Could it be that the issues at hand are bigger than rap? Along these lines, Rap sales are at a 40% decline while the murder rate in the Black community is simultaneously increasing. By any reasonable standard that is an inverse relationship. So again, the facts don't match up with the claims but that never gets in the way of self-aggrandizement.

We all know Whitlock will be back but hopefully he will have the decency not to prop himself up on the corpse of a young man who was senselessly murdered.

Quoted for Truth!!!

L Boogie is nothing short of off da hook!  Check her singing from the movie Sister Act II...proving that what she did later was just half her vocal ability....she added hip hop to make a commercial impact but she does not need anything to enhance her ability to sing.  Just because she is human and allowed situations to effect her outlook and is now disenfranchised does not mean she won't return to being an artist of note.

The Fugees were together before Sister Act II was released if i'm not mistaken, so she was already rapping.   She does have vocal skills but she's not a Beyonce or anything. In her more recent performances, she didn't sound that good at all to me.

why would Wyclef and Pras be jealous of her? I expected more from her, but that cd was pretty much it and she hasn't done anything remotely close to it since. Her performances over the last few years have been somewhat lacking.

Respectfully, one created an all time classic album, the other 2 have not. One is a 5 time Grammy winner, the other 2 are not. The Fugees catalog is comprised of Hill dominating every single track including their biggest hit.

Simply, she's Janet while the other 2 are Rebe and Latoya.
again, why would they be jealous of her? you can't seriously hold on to that first album. It was a classic, no doubt, but that was what almost 10 years ago? Wyclef has had success since then. Pras was never significant to me.

The Fugees had what 2 cds? The first one was ok and the second was a classic and all of them contributed to its success. The second cd highlighted her potential, she just didn't live up to it, at least not yet.

That comparison is far off. She's no Janet and Wyclef has done more since the break up than Lauryn.

Like i said earlier, she showed her potential and i was looking forward to more work from her, but it just didn't happen that way.

well he didn't really deny Andre's talent, its just that as of late, Andre has been doing more singing than rapping

and after saying the above, the show delivers with an entertaining episode. Last night's ep was one of the best so far.

and that's the problem. I still watch the show but Jaime isn't interesting. Her back story and love interest is just boring. I want to see special effects all throughout the show, not just when she wants to run and get her sister before giving up the nooky.

and then to kill Burke's twin brother off in that fashion? tonight's ep had better be a masterpiece.

God bless James Ingram.  That's real journalism.

wow, i didn't hear about this, but i will definitely look into this more. I do know he just recently put more family members on pay roll. Alvin "Smiley Face" Parks is just a puppet. If it wasn't for his mother, he'd have nothing.

I don't know if he's respected now since he's moreso an actor who will come out with a song every once in awhile. I'm pretty sure everyone acknowledges his earlier work.

But the DC Sniper episode is INCREDIBLE.  Don't sleep....

But they're not gangsters. American Psychos? Sure. But I watch this show for chips, cheddar, fly cars and fly honeys. This was just some creepy dude with his creepy boyfriend/son and a bad understanding of tarot. I'm telling you, once you profile the Atlanta Child Murders, I'm going to know you guys ran out of ideas.  :P

agreed. I felt as though i was watching an episode of Most Evil or New Detectives. This guy was a serial killer who tried to distract attention from his real goal of killing his wife, by killing innocent folks.

the DC sniper was the weakest episode imo.

OK, I have a major speculation about Maya and her brother meeting up with Sylar:

"When the camera shows us the dead body of the guy who gave them a ride, we see a cockroach next to it  ... The last time we saw a cockroach in this show was when Sylar's near-dead body was dragged away by Michelle/Candince.  I think, she's still alive and he only thinks he killed her because of her illusions.  But why?  (Oh, and my speculation may have some basis since Missy Peregrym (Candince) is supposed to be in more episodes)

OK, nothing happens in Heroes by sheer coincidence.  I think that the Company wanted Sylar with Maya and her brother, but if he thinks his powers are working, he'd kill them immediately.  By tricking him, he thinks his powers are lost and maybe he won't kill them.  Now all three are on their way to NYC, where the Company wants them to go.  And thus ends my speculation."  http://2guystalking.com/2gttrb/?cat=12

that's an interesting theory, but the cochroach has been all over the show. if i'm not mistaken it first showed up when the company originally "bagged" Sylar..in fact, i believe that's how Sylar faked his death, by studying the cochroach in the cell with him. There is something definitely up with the roach. Hopefully it will be revealed soon.

I don't know what to think about the twins and Sylar. It seems like Alejandro could possibly be the answer to the virus, but if Sylar gets to him, who knows how it will play out.

I agree with the writer also..looking at cnn this morning, i see that Cheney is coming under fire for being at a country club that had a confederate flag in the garage, who do you think they showed the photo to first?....that's right the Rev...now he's demanding that Cheney quit the club, blah blah blah.
