Hmmm, loved this one.  The first was my favorite, with this one closely following, mainly because nothing will ever match the racial dynamic metaphor of the first film. But this is damn good, and clearly sets up that this is the prequel to the films we know.

I really like this piece.  No surprise, Greg Tate wrote it.

IMO 4:44 good but not great. The title-track may be the best song. Depends on who you ask. J always been on some grown-man rap.
Soon to see a million. No more Big-Willy. My game is grown prefer you call me William!

Bottom-line= Jay needs Ye! He dropped his entire roca-fella label & only kept Kanye. Life of Pablo had nice production but we see Yeezy at his lyrical worst. Yep, it was that bad! Would 4:44 been better with KW beats? Absolutely.  No disrespect to No I.D., hes proven his production skills.
Duke Ellington had a partner in crime named "Billy" Strayhorn. The two composed songs together for over 20+plus years.  Batman had Robin! Word

J is the man. Yes, Ill take shots! All in the name of good fun. it's a sports fan reaction! No personal attacks. Im talkin about the body of work. A rap career you cant front on!  4:44 has the diversity I look for in hip hop. I just wish it had the cross-over appeal. He can do it. With the right help.
Story of O.J. powerful video!
I've heard consistent complaints about the production.

Deodato art made this a must buy for me.  And the arrival of Maestro and his clan from OML's timeline is the right level of threat.

Riri is a totally entertaining character.  Not missing Tony at all.

Fun when they team up. Their dynamic in this issue is similar to Stark and Peter in the latest movie.

Oh and Tah,... That Anime you remember? That's 8-Man alright.
Wasn't 8-man the one that smoked special cigarettes to activate his powers?  That's some evil stuff there.
"It's for the kids."
Yeah, but Tobor the 8th Man was still a dope show.  His name is robot backward, obviously.

Remember Pounce, the robot tiger who was his pet for an episode or so?

Wow.  I guess that show totally passed me over in childhood. I  don't remember it at all.  Of course, some of these shows were only syndicated in certain TV markets.

I really wish I could have copies of the complete Battle of the Planets episodes.  I'm sure some purists hate it because it re-edited the Gatchaman saga, but anyway, I still have fond memories.
Perfect example of the regional factor.  We never got Battle of the Planets in our town.

My appreciation for grits didn't happen until adulthood.  I like it additives...gravy, etc.

Hard Choices / Re: Hard Choices: Lauryn Hill v Mary J Blige

Lauryn at her peak was a brilliant artist who could have had it all.  But she thew it all away.  Tragic.  Even if she had the output of D'Angelo, this would be more of a fair fight.  D's product flow is spare, but boy when he drops something it's strong! And he's got music released in this century.

Meanwhile, Mary consistently beats the odds and has assembled a great body of work.  My Mary playlist is quite long.

Back to the subject at hand.  I think this is an impressive album, one of the few great "grown up" hip hop albums, like De La Soul's STAKES IS HIGH, that deal honestly with adult concerns.

Hip hop acts are jointing R&B artists on the oldies circuit. I just worked with a bunch of them and they tour steadily.

No breaking out into song, a LA LA LAND.

More like great music playing while mayhem erupts on screen.
