Black Panther / Re: AVX: VS #5 preview.

The part that's really bothering me is how adamant Storm fans are about ignoring the fact that Storm was committing domestic abuse.

Not cool.  And they get at BP fans for potentially "loaded" posts.

I hope so.  That would be awesome.

Sports Talk / Re: Miami Dolphins Kiss Chad Johnson Buh-bye After Arrest
« on: August 14, 2012, 02:04:48 pm »
The Dolphins were too quick with the release.

Like, nothing has been set in stone or anything.  He hasn't even gone on trial.

Both Chad and his now ex were fools to think this would have worked.  But Miami were quick on the trigger in my opinion.

a lot of other writers still used the 80s superhero crap that I can't get into anymore.  When I was 9 yes but now, not so much.

Which writers?

Johns is always my first target when this is brought up.  Even before Perez and Daniels, who both sound absolutely archaic (though from different eras, Perez being 70s/80s dialogue, Daniels being 90s).

I don't why this stupid article keeps getting pimped around.

It just casts Black Panther and Hudlin in such a negative light, yet acting like they are being objective or siding with both.

Just plain frustrating.

The only silver lining is that BP isn't getting zapped immediately afterwards...

Or I hope not.

If it was Thor, then AvX has been the worst even ever for him.

For a while, I thought Tony would be the one to go.  Now?  Xavier, Storm, or an Avenger that was not in the movie.

Black Panther / Re: Hickman interview on his Avengers.

That, and a few other quotes got me so hyped.

I think Black Panther is a LOCK in this line-up.  Either way, Hickman is getting my money unless his writing takes a steep decline.

I'd say that's impossible, but I also used to think Bendis and Brubaker could do no wrong.  But some writers just aren't team book writers, IMO.

What has really bothered me about this situation (and not just the media's coverage, that's just a given) is this idea people have that "hey, if someone else had a gun, this wouldn't have been as bad/he would have been stopped."

One, I'm sorry Jack Bauer, but the guy came in armed, armored, and prepared.  Your handgun isn't going to compare to tear gas, a rifle, and a bulletproof vest.  Oh, and hundreds of people running for dear life.

Two, even if you were so "awesome", what if other people were armed too?  How would you know who the shooter is if other people are armed?  How would they know?  What if it just turned into a theater version of those schoolgirls turning on each other in Battle Royale?

I'm not even anti-guns, but some people need to think for a minute or two.

It'd be weird if Xavier died.  It'd be the second "death" in like three years or so.

To add my two cents.

CBR was my first comic book forum.  I think the infamous DC boards were second, and Newsarama was third.

So I kind of grew up in there.  At first, I was a loud, obnoxious poster that'd into a lot of fights.  It took a messy argument with Dwayne McDuffie for me to really chill out.  My views were pretty crappy (I remember being one of the guys yelling "FORCED" and stuff, even about Mr. Hudlin's Black Panther), but again, I grew out of that.

But yeah, that board has taken numerous twists and turns.  There was a time when the X-Boards weren't as trollish.  Actually, I think it was the Rumble Boards that had a terrible rep.  I remember the days when YABS was still prominent/around.

These days, I still consider it my forum home.  Some aspects still annoy me, but hey, that's the case for every board I'm in.  Except this one, which I think I'm finally going to start regularly posting in.

I really hope that's Blue Marvel, even if I'm not really a fan of the character.

Location: Currently East Hartford, CT.  But I alternate between EH, Ithaca College, and Abuja, Nigeria

Vocation: College Student, Writer (short stories, but primarily comic book scripts.  My friends want me to do screenwriting, but I'm legit afraid of the TV/Movie industry), Web Designer.

Marriage status: Single to the point of loneliness.  My fault.

Long term Goal: Major in Comp Sci and Creative Writing.  Then find a fun job that fits both.

Short Term Goal: Get out of Academic Suspension.  Again, my fault.

Likes: Depeche Mode (LOL)...  Ok, a whole lot of various genres of music (include Country to some degree), Pro Wrestling, Comic books, video games, racing, 24, college sports, and plenty of more.

Dislikes: I don't want go over that.  Too many, and I don't like being cynical.

Hi, I'm Okwudili Udeh.  Twenty years old, Nigerian American, and...  Currently in my own personal hell.

General Discussion / Re: Nigeria's Space Program

Wow...  This is the first time I've heard about this...

It's cool, but there should be far more pressing matters to address before Nigeria goes to space.  Like our greedy politicians, religious reform, yadda yadda yadda...
