Isn't that happening NOW? Don't get pissy with me because you just rattled off a staple.

lol. ggguuurrrllll, you so crazy.  Anyway, however it goes down, I think it A. is something that, for longtime fans at least, deserves to be answered and B. could make for an interesting story.  Heck, I'll take a five-page flashback.

I'm picturing a really human storyline and Storm could be used in it as his support, helping him come back to health.

Rigggghhhttt....or we can have one of his DM's take care of him and have Ororo acting like a jealous insecure prom date, right?  ::)

<<Sorry, the whole black man as animal still chaffs me. >>

But wouldn't that deny the use of Egyptian mythology?  Man-beast imagary is strong in Egypt. Is there any other man-beast imagary in other African myths?

Two separate things, IMO.  Externally imposed African to monkey, ape , etc. images to support/justify racism and subjugation is not the same as ancient Egyptian mythos.

Oooohhhh, and here's where we start to walk on eggshells, much like The Frog Princess/house-maid issue.  For the sake of being PC do we not do anything that might come across as offensive or do we write the story we want to write and accept the backlash?

Well, comics now have a one page recap.

Between the recap and the internet a interested reader can get up to speed pretty quick.

Recap pages are no where near as effective as the way they used to catch you up.  The old recap happened with pictures and within the flow of the story.

But the key word in your reply is "interested" reader.  That's where my question lays.  You have to interest the reader within those first few pages to inspire them to search for more info.  That's where I see the challenge between the unfolding storyline (and wanting to play things close to the chest) and a trying to interest someone with only part 4 of a six part story.

It can be done;  my first issue of serious collecting was part 2 of a 3 part story.  There was a lot I didn't know, and the story ended on a cliffhanger, but what was there was enough to hook my 5th grade mind.

That really is a dilemma, but like all problems, the correct answer is usually the simplest one:  Just have something really big blow up in the first two pages, lol ;)

Thank you so much for answering my questions Mr. Maberry.  It means a lot, not only to me, but to other readers to see writers interact with their fans.  And like I said I've been loving your run so far and it's killing me because I haven't gotten No. 10 shipped from my store yet, but I've been hearing such great things.  Keep up the good work.

I know; how do you follow up Doom?  What could be a big threat after Doom?  There is only one answer:

The Impossible Man moves to Wakanda and he won't leave.  Before he's done, The PG abandons Wakanda to the madness.
I think you're onto something. How would T'Challa handle really having Wakanda stand on his shoulders alone?

Well, I was more going for the insantity of how do you deal with Impy.  No plans work because you can't plan for pure chaos.

Hmmm, that might be an interesting threat for T'challa.  How does the man with a plan deal with someone who's thought processes are so chaotic, that writer gets accused of writing nonsense.  I don't mean something like the insanity of Joker, but something so alien that no human logic gets you through it.

Down the line, I would like to see T and Wakanda deal with an entity like a Celestial coming to earth to reclaim his lost Vibranium.  The mineral came from somewhere, and that is something I'd like to see explored.

Just imagine if something comes down and straight up rips the Vibranium Mound out of the Earth.  Could make for an epic storyline, especially if it's a cosmic crossover.

What I think would be cool is a mini connecting Priest's run to Hudlin's; i.e. the brain aneurysm, the whereabouts of Kasper and QDJ.  I know it might be a little late and not make sense for new readers, but, well, sucks for them haha.  I'm picturing a really human storyline and Storm could be used in it as his support, helping him come back to health.

Kinda like with The Fairly Oddparents, how long was that show on the air before Cosmo and Wanda all of a sudden got a baby, and when it did happen ratings went through the roof, whereas had they done it in the first or second season it woulda been as big of a deal..................

Lol, nice reference! I haven't seen that show in so long!

I think Apocalypse would be a perfect and logical choice.  He's got that whole "survival of the fittest" thing going on, and who better to test that against than to step to the leader of the most advanced civilization on earth?

Just a couple maybe quick questions:

1.  How (if at all) has your writing changed since starting a monthly comic like BP and then switching to a major event like DoomWar?  Do you find yourself writing differently to accommodate non-BP readers and has that changed the story from what you originally had?

2.  In terms of research for characters/settings, do you use a lot of stuff you have on hand, do you Google it, or does Marvel have a massive database for you to peruse, maybe a mixture of all three?

3.  You've been commenting a lot about the current storyline and DoomWar, etc. quelling peoples fears and clarifying different issues, and I absolutely love it, it's hyping me so much more than an actual interview would have done because it feels so personal.  How much give does Marvel allow in terms of answering fans questions (like mine lol) without going through different media channels?  Do you have to get the O.K. on what you say before you post?

That's it for now and thanks for at least reading over my questions.  I love what you're doing right now and finding out what goes through people's heads during the creating process of art, etc. is a thing of mine, it makes me appreciate the work a person puts out even more.

this is crazy.

Siege is by far the worst.

I'm glad that Doomwar does not have any tie-ins.

Yeah, I actually kind of appreciate not having to break the bank in order to get the whole story, I'm digging the idea of "family events."

For those who have issue with the 1 ton level of strength...someone that is comparable.

The Gorgon ( Tomi Shishido) has 1 ton level strength at his max strength level. This guy is bad T'challa being on par with him is pretty awesome.

This is a battle I want to see one day.

What is he from?  I've heard mention of him before, but I don't know anything about him.  ???

Black Panther / Re: Black Panther and Daredevil needs to teamup again!!!!!
« on: November 11, 2009, 09:10:51 pm »
Iron Fist pretended he was Daredevil. Now we suggest that BP pretends he is IF and then I guess Deadpool will have to pretend he's BP.  (Well, sales of BP would probably rocket.). But if Deadpool is pretending to be BP, who is pretending to be Deadpool?  Oh I know, Hercules.  Then Thor will pretend he's Herc while Red Hulk pretends he's Thor while Iron Man pretends he's the Red Hulk, while Bucky pretends he's Iron Man, while Steve pretends he's Bucky while Wolvie pretends he's Steve while Spidey pretends he's Wolvie while DD pretends he's Spidey.  :)

Please give this man a book!  lol

He did. It would be great if he did so currently.

Iron Fist needs a break, so have T'Challa alternate if he likes.

Wow, that would be interesting.

S'yan is T'Chaka younger brother right?

Also he was the  the Black Panther before T'Challa  & the Black Panther that T'Challa defeated right?

Yeah, I think he basically became a King(or maybe Prince?)-regent until a direct bloodline descendant (T'Challa) took over.

What always scared me about the Panther cult was that you could have the baddest mo-fo around pass every physical, mental, and spiritual test thrown at him/her, have them beat the current Panther, but the effects of the heart-shaped herb could still take them out.  I don't have a problem with it, but it shows how powerful and crucial that part of the ascension is.
