While Barkley is only behind Jordan in my basketball fandom, I can't quite support him on this one.

Barkley seems to be conveniently forgetting that HE was a part of a superstar trio in Houston with Pippen and Olajuwon. While he may get a pass for that as a superstar seeking a ring before retirement, he still pulled a Lebron.

Exactly, Barkley has always been a hypocrite.  He used to get into off the court incidents every summer, then he bitches about the attitudes of younger players.  I don't get why everybody is trippin on Lebron, he played out his contract and got himself into the best situation.  He doesn't have to be Jordan, and he doesn't have to play on bad teams

IMO, the best movie of the summer

Wolf Creek is the worse movie I have ever seen.  It was a movie I can remember, but it was an excruciating experience, not because of the violent, but because of the ungodly lag for the first hour of the movie.  That crap dragged for so long I couldn't wait for the characters to start dying but by the time the plot picked up I already mentally checked out, I was more entertained by the guy heckling in the back row

As much as I hate saying anything in support of Jesse Jackson, he didn't compare Lebron to a slave, at least from the comments Dr. Boyd posted.  Jackson accused Gilbert of having a slave owner mentality in thinking that he owned Lebron and that Lebron leaving was some egregious act of betrayal.  He could have used a comparison different than Slave owner, but I think his assessment was a rare right one for him.

The Cavs DID have the best record in the NBA the last two years in a row. Thier front office ISN'T inept. I know what an inept front office looks like. I'm a Knicks fan. It wasn't the Cavs' fault that Boozer decided to f*ck them over.

Actually it was the Cavs fault Boozer screwed them, they had an option on his contract but instead of taking it they allowed him to become an unrestricted free agent.

Hmmm well even if it was "calculated" he still came off as a whining baby. He makes Synder and Steinbrenner look like angels.

Well, you aren't the target audience obviously.  The folks buring his jersey in effigy are.

I think it's altogether pointless as it was irrational.  You can make all the rants you want, that is not going to do anything to ward off the impending drop off of attendance and sales.  It's certainly not going to make his organization anymore attractive to prospective free agents.  Calculated or not, his statement was foolish and will do nothing for his team

K-1 is a great indicator of his striking ability. The sport is related enough to show his skills.

Cardio has been the achilles heel of many fighters. Overeem is much better  conditioned now and is more powerful as well.

Overeem will manhandle Fedor and G&P him.

I am not even fully convinced that Fedor can get past Verdum to be honest.

K-1 is a great indicator of striking ability, but the whole thing changes when you throw in takedowns, clinching and all the other stuff involved in MMA.  It changes distance, timing and the style of the striker when switching sports.

He's only been out of the first round once in like 3 years and the one time he was really pushed in a fight as a Heavyweight he gassed against Sergei so his cardio is still in question.  How exactly has the cardio issue been solved?

You know who hasn't gotten past Werdum?  Overeem, Werdum beat him too

DEMOLITION!

Overeem is here and Fedor should be very afraid.

Overeem looked great! Even more importantly, he looked confident and patient.

With this win The Demolition Man has set himself up for what is potentially the most lucrative run in MMA history. If Fedor beats Verdum (Which is not a given) he MUST fight Overeem. If Overeem beats Fedor I believe his contractual obligation with Strikeforce is finished. Overeem can walk into the UFC with the WAMMA and Strikeforce belts around his waist and get a superfight with the champion.

Pure cash my friends, pure cash. 8)

I'm still not impressed with Overeem.  Rogers was backing up almost the entire fight, didn't even try, he was scared from the get go.  Overeem is not going to beat Fedor, he's gonna get ran like everyone else then they'll prop up the next false challenge for Fedor

Overeem will STOP Fedor!

I guaranteed!

Just like he stopped Sergei that second time around?  Just like he stopped Shogun, Chuck, Rogerio and almost every quality fighter he took on in a lower weight class?  Where is the ridiculous hype coming from?

Take a look at his K1 fights and see the growth in his striking. He KO'd Bada Hari, that is huge.

That is a different sport, and without pairing it with legit victories I don't see how you can assume he's improved to an elite fighter in another sport.

You are taking losses from early in Overeem's career to make an argument though.

He had Chuck and then gassed. The same with Rogerio. His conditioning is much better and with his improved striking he will end fights when there is an opening.

How can you discount his losses to elite comp and at the same time give him credit for what he did in another sport?  That ridiculous and so is using his cardio as an excuse.  He gassed against Liddell in 3 minutes?!  I mean it's one thing to gas once, but to say that everytime he loses?  The last time he faced a quality heavyweight he got KO'd again.  I think he needs to do some quality work at HW before you crown him next

I have to respectfully disagree here. It's true that Scottie was a second banana but he was a great one. He is after all in the Hall of Fame. The only way any of Lebron's teammates (except for Shaq) is getting in the HOF is with a ticket.

I hear ya but I think MJ's constant pressure made Pippen the player he became, I don't think LBJ has it in him to demand of his teammates would Jordan demanded of his team.

Well, LeBron tried hard; it just wasn't his night.
Respect is due them damn the Celtics. They played their best ball of the season.
Now the LeBron watch begins.

Here's the thing about the Cavs: who's the best player LeBron has played with? Give this man his Scottie Pippen and see what happens.

Scottie wasn't all that, MJ trained with him and made him put forth his best every night and Scottie responded to the challenge to become the player he became.  If not for the Jordan pushing him he probably would have been an average player and constantly cracked against adversity.  Lebron is not that kinda guy.  Lebron already has enough pieces to win, it's on him to win with them.

<<Quote from: Emperorjones on Today at 05:46:19 AM-Nick Fury: I didn't care for him all that much this time around. I can't put my finger on it, but he didn't feel like Nick Fury, like a high-ranking intelligence agent>>

I'll tell you why;  he was too laid back.  Fury is burning intensity at all times; he smiles like Dirty Harry, ie, his lips may be smiling but not his eyes.  Even when he is relaxing, he's intense.  In this movie, he isn't intense;  SJ was more intense.

I like the laid back Ultimate Nick Fury.  The other Nick is just like you said, Dirty Harry, he's a boring archetypal hardass, I never really felt him that much.

Ok, lets hear it. For the record I like Jamarcus and any team with a black quarter back.
Did this brother finally let all that talk about him being "lazy" finally defeat his spirit. Was...is the Raiders organization so bad that it affected his play ?
Why didnt any other black QB's (past or present) reach out to him ? SO many questions......

The talk of being lazy didn't defeat his spirit, him being lazy and not putting the work in is the reason he got cut.  The organization put millions of dollars into him and he didn't push hismelf to be the best he could be, he got the money and sat
