nope.

it's rude to talk about your take when someone else has the keys to the franchise.

I'm writing MOSAIC. No one in the world has ever done that before. As far as the Panther goes, I'm in the audience. And I like the book.

i like the current black panther series.

it's not what I would have done with him but NONE of the other volumes were either. And I liked them all too.

thanks very much.  we came in at #61 for october and that was with a 5 dollar price tag. there's always a falloff between #1 and #2 so , if you like it, PLEASE share with friends. If we can push this thing to lat longer than a year Mosaic could stick around.

I subscribed to Mosaic. Over the years Redjack you and I haven't always seen eye to eye in various forums, but I do think you often make good points and I value your insight and creativity. Also wanting to be more supportive of black comics creators, and since I 'know' you, supporting Mosaic was a no brainer for me.

I didn't want to post until I finally sat down and read Issue #1 of Mosaic. Right off, I thought the artwork was good. I also thought the writing was good. I think you have a good grasp on this character.  I thought overall it was a good introduction to the character.

I did have misgivings. I didn't care for the white girlfriend. I want to see more black love in mainstream comics. It's like everyone black is dating or married to someone non-black. We are told this is 'progress' but to me it reinforces the idea that blacks are dysfunctional, can't work together, can't love one another, that we have to seek happiness elsewhere, and I'm tired of that narrative. It felt like you were making Morris too stereotypically the rich, black, callow athlete, with the white trophy on his arm to boot. It reminded me a little of Nick Young and Iggy Azalea, so I wonder if Morris and Tia's relationship will go the same way. I also saw strains of Kobe level haughtiness with Morris, which I get despite some misgivings, because he needs a place to start from which to grow.

His Mosaic look is interesting. I do like the digital braids. I'll be curious to see where the story is going, what kind of villains he'll have, what's his purpose, and where do the other Inhumans come into play.

Well....

I don't have a clue who Nick young is. I don't follow sports at all. I'm aware of Kobe Bryant but only because he was a big deal in LA for a while. I couldn't tell you the first thing about his personality or that of Lebron James or any of the others. If they didn't do commercials I wouldn't know their names.

I chose sports because the celebrity culture there is the same as it is in Hollywood and I wanted to explore the effects of that culture without anyone saying I was pointing the finger at any specific person. Because I'm not and I wouldn't do that.

I don't do stereotypes. You've never seen anyone like Morris in comics before. Black or white or whatever. Whatever you expect, I promise you, that isn't what's going to happen.

And yes. this is chapter one of a long story. Where Morris starts is nothing like where he's going to end up.

As long as folks keep buying the book we'll get to see that play out.

i'd be very happy with that. Once i finish setting him up, he might be able to sustain a tv show. Definitely as a guest in a film.

the book isn't going in the QUANTUM LEAP direction that some people seem to think.

in the last 12 months, Marvel comics has employed more black writers than they have in the last ten years.

NONE of them are weak. All of them play at peak.

So no one can say the output is sub par. No one can say Marvel's not trying to step up. The art from Sanford Green, Khary Randolph and the immortal Brian Stelfreeze should let everyone know that everyone on our side came to play.

We are bringing the heat. It's on the fans now.  We need you. We really actually need you.

All we can do is our best.  Which we all are.

Now it's about sales.

hope you folks are gonna buy this book. i've seen the final art on #1 and Khary and Emilio are CRUSHING this.

I'm doing my level best to make this guy interesting and not your everyday flavor. So far zero speculation about the book's tone and subject have been accurate.

This is something new.
