Three Cups of Tea
« on: June 03, 2012, 08:29:06 pm »
just finished Three Cups of Tea.. an autobiographical account by Greg Mortenson, of his efforts in having a nonprofit foundation to build schools, particularly for girls, in rural (muslim) communities in the middle east.. Some interesting perspectives on daily life in the remote regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan.. much of the narrative takes place in the 90s and the early 00s, including the fallout after 9/11, and observations on the ongoing war on terror.
[the title is based on the custom in virtually all of the communities that Mortenson interacted with, where sharing tea is a gateway to beginning relationships with a person]
