Start at episode One.

You don't start a classic work of literature in chapter 14.

If you're planning on introducing yourself to this show by watching one of the last episodes(the ninth, I think) of the FINAL season, then you might as well not bother with it.

Actually, seeing the last few episodes of the final season should suffice.  Especially the series finale.
A well-rounded, well-thought out story (or story within a series) should end exactly the way it began.

Let's see what this 'The Wire' business is all about.  This should be interesting... :)

No.

By using the rules you've established for other TV series you're setting yourself up to fail in this context.

This show is NOT like other shows and the series finale will mean nothing to you if you don't have the requisite context. That's the point of what we're telling you. If you're going to stack the deck to make sure you don't understand it or like it, don't bother.

Seriously. It would be a complete waste of your time.

Redjack, we're talking about televison here. I see the world from my point-of-view.

I've been exposed to television for over 40 years.  I think I  have a fair idea on how to read a television show.
I'm gonna take a look at 1 episode and see if the show can hold my interest for at least 15 minutes.

If the show cannot do that, then, yes... you would be correct, 'The Wire' was a complete waste of my time.

This is why I said don't bother. It was clear your mind was made up.

However, this particular pose is impressively crude.  Do you go to bookstores, read last five pages and decide if a book is good?

If you think all TV shows are the same, if an episode of HOLLYWOOD SQUARES is the same as the finale of THE SOPANOS, then go right ahead with that attitude. If a Yugo is the same as Maybach because they are all cars, then rock on.

You have announced yourself as a person with no taste.

Wait a minute...
You told me don't bother with the show?  When?
