BIG BROTHER (Summer 2012)
« on: July 12, 2012, 07:57:07 AM »
Yeah, I'm a Big Brother fan. It's my summertime guilty pleasure.
I actually auditioned for this season in Atlanta...but no one from Atlanta was chosen. (It's all good. The Feud turned out to be a better in my opinion. Can't wait until you all see it)
There is only ONE Black person this season and it's a woman.
I hope she makes it to the final 2 or 3. Last season, the Black woman made it to top 4.

Whatever happens, it'll wash the stink of that ABC show, Glass House, out of my brain. I only watched the first episode and it was terrible.

ps: there's a secret twist. 4 former contestants return. Who? we don't know. They are playing their own game and won't affect the newbies winning the 500, 000$. Can't wait!

Right on to the real and death to the fakers!  Peace out!

The info I've gotten is that the four mentors are Mike Boogie, Janelle, Dan, and Britney.  That's a legit group.  I was hoping for the master, Dr. Will, but I guess I'll have to settle for the lesser half of Chill Town.

It always takes me a few weeks to figure out who I like...mostly because it takes me that long to figure out who everyone is.  I always love following this site: http://survivorsucks.yuku.com/forums/74/Big-Brother#.T_8CcXnA3dY  They have some crazies who follow and post about the live feeds basically 24 hours a day.

This has become my fav reality show and I can't wait til the ball gets rolling :D

Mentors, huh?
Too bad Evil Dick didn't make the cut.
Janelle is there for eye candy...but why can't i remember britney?
Mike Boogie has more personality...Dr. Will is abrasive and hard to like so I see why he was chosen

Britney Haynes
Big Brother 12 (my least favorite BB btw)

From what I understand, the mentors are each assigned four house guests and can't be voted off.  That way, the vets can't team up like last season.

i'm still not hip.. what's the format of big brother? what's the main strategy?  what is the grand prize?

There is always some twist.  Their motto is "expect the unexpected."

That aside,  usually there are about 12-14 people thrown into the house for about three months with no tv, internet, etc.

  • At the beginning of the week there is some sort of head of household competition.  The HOH then chooses two other housemates to go on the block.
  • Later that week they usually have a food competition, where half the house gets to eat normally and the other house gets put on slop (something you imagine little orphan annie being forced to eat).
  • Still later that week there is a Power of Veto Competition.  In this competition, the two people on the block, the HOH, and three other random house guests compete for the veto.  The winner can then take someone off the block and the HOH must put someone up in their place.
  • Finally, there is the live eviction, there the house guests vote someone out of the house.

The competition and the whole show is pretty corny, but there is something lovable about it.  I think the fact that it is on three days a week and you can watch the live feed 24 hours a day has something to do with that.  Dr. Will from Seasons 2 and All Stars is on my Reality TV Mount Rushmore, right next to Richard Hatch.

The prize is a half a million bucks.  The hardest thing for these players to master is having an even amount of competition and social game play.
