Agreed with Blanks on the Mitt the twit Cyclops comparison.

Princesa, Wakanda is really no different then America or the UK, both are also somewhat  xenophobic ...in fact look at this country issue with immigration, or those who don't look a certain way. The difference is that Wakanda also has a foreign policy of non-intervention and isolation (The U.S had this once also). BUT for me, they are really no different then the U.S.

Never mind that the MU US also has a Mutant problem! So coming from that point of view, to me the X-men are just the Taliban/Al Qadea to Wakanda. There was nothing saying that Mutants  are banned from Wakanda. But if you are a X-man, then yes you are not welcomed. I'm pretty sure we will all agree that Taliban/Al Qadea are not welcomed in the U.S. Not All Afghans...but Taliban/Al Qadea members would not be allowed. So for me, it's no different then now allowing the X-men. Which is a group of individuals, much like the Taliban/Al Qadea.

I agree, Storm is likely gone. I love her, but it's a hard pill to swallow. Watching her being taken back to a problematic premise in the first place is pretty sad. I know O'oreo fans love Chris Claremont BUT his Storm is really problematic on several levels as I mentioned before. And I don't think a REAL feminist would like all the fetish crap he pulled with his female characters...yes he wrote them as Strong, but he also had the fetish nonsense to accompany it...and it's not all that salable with the demographic she really needs to succeed...Woman of Color! especially young WoC looking for a female hero...Storm just isn't it. I don't see any parent reading that stuff and wanting their child to read stuff with Storm.

Mean while it's just the opposite with Captain (Ms) Marvel. Her profile is highly raised with the new solo, lots of young white girls are dressing up as Carol, drawing pictures of Carol. Strong portrayals in animation with no fainting fetish b.s.

I thought Hudlin/Mcduffie's Storm was the MOST salable Storm out side of the typical 40 year old fanboy. They are going back to the rocker-mohawk Storm i guess. Idk. While Psylocke, Rogue, Emma, Jean are all above Storm now...AND you can't blame Hudlin or the Black Panther.

She would have been MUCH better off with Hickman and T'challa on the NEW Avengers and having a duet book (Storm and the Black Panther), rather then being second fiddle to Psylocke, and buried as a supporting cast member in All-New X-men and Wolverine and the X-men, both whom have pretty large cast.

Isn't Storm supposed to be in Uncanny X-Force as well? (I thought I saw that somewhere on Comic Vine yesterday). Needless to say, I'm going to be keeping very close eyes on how Storm is portrayed in the X-books going forward. I've got my pen and paper ready.

Yes, BUT it's essentially a downgrade. She was the central character in Woods' X-MEN. Leader, focus, center. Now that role was given to Psylocke. Storm is no longer a leader, the center or focus..she's a supporting character to Psylocke per the writer.

Oh the irony..karma is a B.

Quote
Marvel.com: You say all these characters have darkness in their past. Who—if anyone—provides the book's moral center?

Sam Humphries: "Moral center" is an interesting term for a book like UNCANNY X-FORCE. In this context, it won't mean the same thing to all people. Psylocke will be the center of the book, both morally and otherwise.

Marvel.com: What makes Psylocke the right person to headline the series and lead the team?

Sam Humphries: She's a great character with deep contradictions. Her history is a mess. She's a survivor who doesn't fear the darkness. She's one of my favorite X-Men. And it's her time. Watch the throne[/b].

It's hard for O'oreo fans to spin this...I'm watching to..if her role in the Avengers is any indication..just being on a cover or being on a team means nothing. Right now she is a supporting character...she was a co-star with Black Panther..had they supported..it's likely we would have had the Storm and BP book.

T'challa does have a mega plot role in NEW Avengers...that spins out of Fantastic Four #607-608! huge difference. The team seems to have been formed because of That threat. Storm could have been there... Hickman is a fan of the marriage and her. NEW Avengers is a flagship title.

While Bendis All-new X-MEN and Aaron's Wolverine and the X-MEN are also flagship, she isn't a star character in either and they both have massive cast. I'm gloating because I have been saying this was going to happen for a while now.

I'm guessing the next title is going to be a 'Dark' X-men title announced at NYCC, still hoping they try a solo with Storm. They should still try.

I'm going to hold my judgement on if Storm is a key character in the X-Titles.  May be a bit premature but I think she will shine a bit in the Marvel Now X-Stuff.  Is it that the writers don't like the character, back in the Claremont/Byrne era, there wasn't an X-Man that didn't get some kind of focus spotlight.  But thats a whole other topic all-together.

Bottom line, I may be fooled by my hopes in a good book and hoping Bendis' uses his "character magic" to bring popularity to the mutants I like.

Until I see a black male X-man that's not killed, de-powered, etc.. or the current trend of being turned evil (Bishop and now Darwin)...no X-books for me.

The fact that Uncanny X-force has Storm hunting Bishop is a sad thing. Especially after what they had her do to T'challa.

Well Sev if there is some bridled optimism for you it is in Bendis. He doesn't care and he will do whatever he wants to do. He trolls the trolls.

indeed...looks like he got the memo about Storm, at least using her....while he sucks at writing T'challa, he is not a bad writer and his Ultimate Spidey is pretty good...so hopefully we will get some minority mutants (males mainly) and Storm love (which looks like he is doing from the previews).

Heya 7, can you give me the issues that he wrote BP in so I can check it out again.  I don't remember him writing a bad Panther.  Thanks! :D

Seeing Storm having emotional power spikes makes one wonder...not saying just saying.

Ah...when Storm joined the Avengers...he turned T'challa into Black Daredevil, with the billy club and all, then had Cap save him. Consider that Liss Panther started owning everyone after the first arc with Vlad. Beside that, it's pretty clear that he doesn't like him...not as a bash but he has said that he doesn't like to write smart-genius characters...so T'challa was hard to him.

He even turned down Ironman solo book for the same reason...so when he did write him...and it was Black Daredevil. Even in AvX he just had T'challa jump with a Cable laser cannon and that's it! Last issue T'challa by Bends was ghost.

The Illuminati was decent.

I'm sure he could, but I don't think T'challa is his wheel house.

I agree with you guys I wouldn't get  my hopes up either. It's all about intent. If they broke them up strictly for the emotional impact then so much for that. If they saw them as a subplot that mirrors the main story arc  then she's pregnant. I tend to think that gives them too much credit...

Way too much...it will happen IF someone can convince Bendis. I think he might try to write a decent Storm to get fans on board, but it's clear that the book is going to be focused so much on the 05, that i'm worried after the initial arc what going to happen.

Few more days unit we learn that is going down with T'challa. Hickman also said that Storm was in his top 10 of female characters between Marvel and D.C! sucks that she is not going to have someone who is a fan writing her.
