O Snap Here This Ninja Goes
« on: January 08, 2013, 08:30:57 am »
Article on the Grio this morning Talk show host Tavis Smiley has joined Spike Lee in condemning Quentin Tarantino's hit film Django Unchained, and like the infamous auteur, he hasn't even seen it.  :o
* I decided to start a new topic because we have a lot of "O Snap moments"  ;D

O.K...  sounds like fun! :)

Here's one I heard this morning on MSNBC's  NOW with Alex Wagner hosted by Alex Wagner where a panel of 4 contributors (Eric Michael Dyson from Georgetown University included) were discussing that "...everything the president does is being litigated [by the gop]."

Mr. Dyson blurted out,  "Never Underestimate The Intensity or the Lure of Negrophobia."

I find it odd that, as a journalist, Tavis wouldn't at least see the film before making his comments.  Since, unlike Spike, he also has his own TV show, he could also ask QT, Mr. Reggie, or the cast of the film on his show to talk about it.

A colleague of mine brought up a point. He said Tavis is taking the opportunity to gain "notoriety" I just have to shake my head. Django was a love story that took place 2 years before the civil war. And it ends with a Black Hero. That's it. All the other superficial BS these people are bringing up mean nothing but adding to the popularity of the movie. So talk on Tavis or anyone else. Let's get a couple Oscars and Golden Globes out of this. 8)

Is Tavis Smiley relevant?

Is Tavis Smiley relevant? At this point in the game "wand" none of them are. The Oscars are coming up. I am cheering Django on! I am sure Mr. Hudlin, and all associated are moving on to the next project. Praying it does as well with or without the controversy  ;D

There's a lot of movies I don't want to see.  No big deal.  I just don't talk about them in public.  Because if I did I literally wouldn't know what I was talking about, and that would be embarrassing to me and a waste of the public's time.  There's too many talking heads that are dumbing down American discourse with their lack of facts, and I don't want to add to that.
