Gladys Knight & her Pips...



...or Chaka Khan & Rufus?

Oh, that's good.  Two omega level voices going head to head.  I'm going with Rufus kinda by default though.  They're a band, the Pips are background singers.  Their band depended on what label they were on at the time.  To me, Chaka Khan's best work is with Rufus.

Agreed, but Gladys' best work is also with the Pips, whose contribution to music shouldn't be denied. F**K, I need the "Claudine" soundtrack!

Yeah, you do.  True that about Gladys.  That's why it's a hard choice.

Well, with Claudine soundtrack, you got Gladys AND Curtis Mayfield writing and producing...that's just insane.

We're comparing mangoes to watermelons here.
The Pips were awesome as background singers to Gladys, but Rufus was a kick-ass band for Ms. Khan.

In other words, background! None of Rufus' post-Chaka albums sold. So we're back at square one.
