Curtis, I was thinking more about your comments.  I do have more thoughts on this.  Since I don't watch Fox News or listen to Talk Radio, I've not been exposed to exactly what they are saying. However, as I have compassion for the little girl and her parents, and find what the lunchroom teacher did highly offensive and out of line, I can't help but ask what brought the teacher to engage in conduct that was so offensive and out of line? Did it just arise in a vacuum? A bizarre isolated act of one individual? Or did it arise from something else? Leading the teacher to think it was OK or even laudible to harass the child? The misunderstanding of the religious rights of individuals is also not arising in a vacuum. Nor the view that it is socially acceptable to demean and disparage religious persons.

Where did the teacher's actions come from and why?

It should not be swept under the rug.

The issue, Curtis, that you bring up of "institutional harassment" is interesting. Though I didn't really have it in mind in connection with this incident. I would think that issue usually comes up in the context of laws or regulations that coerce people to violate deeply-held religious principles (for example, the "sin" of murder as defined by their faith, or the promotion of "sinful" sexual behavior), or that ban essential religious practices (for example, bans on ritual slaughter as exist in some European countries, or proposed bans on circumcision).

Anyway, that was not what prompted me to share the story of the little girl. I just feel terrible for her and her parents. And outraged that this could happen, particularly in the United States.

Also, I believe it only fair and kind to assume the Christian publisher/activist is sincere in drawing public attention to this incident. Because what happened is sincerely outrageous.

Geez, we’re talking ‘bout a child praying to Jesus. Really!?! Has she read the bible? Can she read the bible? Nah, man! I agree, the lunchroom teacher & school handled the situation inappropriately, but the motivation may have been sincere. Maybe! I pray it was.

Does the 5 year old (child) really understand what she was doing? It’s called indoctrination. It’s blind-faith. Forgive them lord fore they know not what they do.

No one, I said, nobody is born with a religion. Fact! We are all born with an innate connection with the divine creator.

ROMANS 5:
20 God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant.

JOHN 16:
23 In that day you will NOT question me about anything.

25 These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; an hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but will tell you plainly of the Father.

26 In that day you will ask in My name, and I DO NOT say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf;

^Did you check the bible verses? Jesus is telling his disciples that he’s gonna speak to them straight-up & straight-forward. You know, he’s spittin’ that real-talk. And what does he say? He says you don’t have to pray to him or in his name. Remember, this is the Christ removing himself from the equation of your connection with god & telling you that it’s okay to just pray to god without his intervention.

Let me double-back. The situation is- (he’s in the garden of Gethsemane)  he knows they’re (the guards) coming to get him.

If you were about to leave your loved-ones, go away & you wanted to comfort them- what would you say to them? What would your last words be? His was to go to god- not him. That’s some really real talk. Word!

The point is- the little girl was praying to Jesus. The same Jesus that says you don’t have to pray to him. More proof that this kid does not understand the gospel nor does her parents nor do most Christians. Faith without works is dead. Dead!

It’s good to pray! But! You can’t call yourself a doctor or nurse unless you study medicine. And graduate! You can’t call yourself a Christian unless you truly understand the teachings of the Christ.

Jesus is the same guy that washed his disciples’ feet. Any of you washin’ your buddies’ toes? Hell no! Be honest! You’re humble but not that damn humble. A dude  that humble would not want you rockin’ a “Jesus-Piece”, hangin’ his image on your wall or in your church* or praying to him.

He doesn’t mind his followers givin’ him props, but he’d rather you focus on your divine connection that existed before any of the prophets. Who are you praying to? Real-talk

AMEN ( Egyptian/ Kemetic)

*The word church means “Circus”. Ever heard of  “Circus De Soliel“? it means Church of the Sun {son}

Hahaha. You're right Apexabyss!  The teacher was just giving that kid some spiritual mentoring!  Maybe the teacher's Jewish!  Hahaha.  ;D

In fact, your interpretation of the verses sounds very Jewish. ;)

Interesting thing is that my son has done a lot of reading about the early church. My eyes popped out when he read me something James said regarding the obligations of the growing number of Gentile followers.  I don't have James's quote handy, but what James was describing ... get this ... were in fact the Seven Noahide Laws that according to Jewish tradition apply to all non-Jews (more obligations, like the Sabbath and kosher laws and more were later given to the Jews at and after Sinai). What blew me away was James was advocating a mainstream Jewish approach that sounded nothing like a new religion at all. Essentially to transmit Jewish monotheism to the Gentiles. Sounded like a lot of Orthodox Jews I know today.

Paul apparently was on an entirely different trip.  :(

Thanks! Respect! I'm proud to hang-out! Sounds very Jewish? Classic!

I suck as a human-being... (lol) I'm kidding! I mean well & my intentions are good. You know I’ll keep it 100! Even if it puts me in a bad light.

My religion is the truth.

What is religion? What is the truth about religion?

Holy sh*t! Now I am really freaked out! Apexabyss ...
Are you psychic?
Are you listening to me Neo, or are you looking at the woman in the red dress . . . ?

I never almost never watch movies more than once. I watched that one like 30 times. Even recorded the soundtrack on a cassete to listen to in my car.

... did you see that? The cat ...

Sometimes there's a glitch ...

Whowwwww.  The true meaning of TRUTH.

 ;) :) ;D :o ??? ::) :P :-*

We live in the MATRIX.

Errrr ... please forgive the momentary altered state of consciousness Apexabyss induced in me last night. Confirming the secret TRUTH of mysticism.

Now straightening my jacket, tightening my tie, and shaking my neck,

I remain,

Sincerely yours.

I started a new thread on the issue of "Prayer to Whom" and these related topics surrounding prayer, to whom one should pray, relationship of Judaism to Early Christianity, etc.  All these things are interesting in their own right, and think deserve a thread of their own.  So on these topics, why don't we discuss them on the new thread.  Thanks.

That way this thread can remain limited to the "Little Girl" incident ... and the Matrix, hahaha.

Oh great.  Now an elementary school teacher tells a kid he is forbidden to read the Bible in class during free-reading time.

http://foxnewsinsider.com/2014/05/07/giovanni-rubeo-father-speak-out-fox-friends-about-teacher-not-allowing-bible-class

The school district reversed the teacher's position. The boy's father believes the school owes his son an apology.

The school denies this incident took place during free-reading time. The child denies this and states it did take place during free-reading time. Sounds like someone is lying. Like maybe to cover the teacher's ass. The boy was moved to a different class for the rest of the school year.

Where do these teachers get off, doing this sort of thing?

If you open the link, several other stories describing school harassment of religious speech and conduct, nationwide, are featured as links.
