"The Ladies Man": Tim Meadows, Will Ferrell
« on: August 23, 2014, 09:09:32 pm »
I picked up the DVD a few weeks ago and finally got to see the whole film.
This film is hilarious!  There were so many WTF!! moments...  ;D

Tim's Leon is clueless, moronic and sex-obsessed, but also a decent guy, deep down.  There should have been a companion book of Leon's poetry.. Like the one that gets him fired.. heh-heh..

The backstory of being the adopted son of Hugh Hefner was nuts!

Billy Dee Williams as Lester.. spot on!   (And at first I thought he might be Leon's real dad.)  Did I miss any Colt 45 product placement?

...Here's the always reliable John Witherspoon ("scrap iron"?  LOL...)  :)  ...and of course Mr. Reggie as Leon's tailor!   ;)

Karyn Parsons..  :-*  so lovely, and amiable as the straight woman to Tim's antics as Leon. (she needs another TV show!)

Tiffani Thiessen... I admired her from afar on Saved By the Bell, but... wow...  :-*  (repeat: she needs another TV show!)

...The woman who plays Candy.. I'd swear I've heard her voice before..

Will Ferrell does so much here it's insane... He pretty much takes over every scene he's in.. the first VSA meeting is gold...

The song and dance sequence.. who did the choreography?

The bar food challenge was one of the most hilarious-- and disgusting-- segments in the movie!! :P

... there was a whole lot of liquor consumed in this film-- or maybe it was really iced tea or something?

...So many left field appearances lend to the pleasantly surreal atmosphere of the narrative.
Tamala Jones.. nice!!

Julianne Moore.... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????? Then Julianne Moore in a clown outfit...?!!!!!!!!?!?!??! ;D

... I wonder what was involved in decorating Leon's funky houseboat digs? (and where'd that remote control come from?  geeeez, LOL)  :D

Glad you dug the movie.  Yes the woman who plays Candy does a ton of animation voice work. This movie is also my best cameo I think, beating out the House Party and Boomerang scenes.

Tamala Jones and Rocky Carroll were amazing.

Julianne Moore was great to work with.

Will Ferrell was a beast.  He's a genius.

No actual drinking on set.

Karyn was a great lady.  Tiffani was cool too.

Better than the cameo in Boomerang Reg!?!  IDK?

I really like this movie too!  I started to describe it as one of my guilty pleasures but I don't feel guilty about liking it at all.  Great performance by Tim Meadows!

Peace,

Mont

I like it. More importantly, my kids like it so it's something we can watch together.

It's a caper series. Basically it's Catch Me If You Can for TV. Skilled high-level con man / forger / thief is caught by a diligent FBI agent. The perp is on parole serving in the FBI's white collar crime unit in NYC under said agent catching other criminals with stings and insider knowledge.  The perp has to wear an ankle bracelet but he's always scheming. Tiffani Thiessen plays the agent's wife. They befriend the perp over time but can he be trusted, etc.

And I think she still looks great and is aging gracefully. She may not look like she did in 1994 but who does?  :)
