Who are the voices that have made the biggest impact during your (formal) education?

For me, the list is long, but for starters ...

Ken Kusmer
Nell Painter
George Fredrickson
Joe Feagin
Barbara Ransby
Roslyn Terborg-Penn
Darlene Clark Hine
Sonia Nieto
Nzadi Keita
Sonia Sanchez
Amiri Baraka
Bill Fletcher
Robin D.G. Kelley
V.P. Franklin
Bettye Collier-Thomas
Wilbert Jenkins
Cornel West
James Cone
Winthrop Jordan
James Basker
Toni Morrison
Maya Angelou
Manning Marable
Farah Griffin
Tom Sugrue

More recently,
Salamishah Tillet
Marcia Dawkins
Erik McDuffie
Juan Floyd-Thomas
Peniel Joseph
David Canton
Andrew Wiese
David Freund
Mary Sies
Angel David Nieves
Imani Perry
Eddie Glaude
Kelly Sorensen
Leah Joseph
Yohuru Williams
Donna Murch
Heather Thompson
Ed Baptist
Walter Johnson
Roopika Risam
Adeline Koh
Kim Gallon
Chanelle Rose
Julian Chambliss
John Jennings
Jiba Anderson
James Peterson

... I'm sure they are many more, but I wanted to see who are other writers and voices that HEF engages regularly.

Curtis, Reg, Battle, Supreme, Lion, Hypestyle? I'd be very curious to learn whose work impacted you.

Thanks so much for sharing! I was only familiar in passing with Campbell, Minsky, and Hofstadter - Thurow and Wagner, I read often. I taught Creating Innovators last fall.

The others you mentioned could be the heart of a required reading list for this site. :-)

Did you have the chance to study with any of them personally?

Most of these I discovered after my formal education. In retrospect, I could have taken opportunities to study with Chomsky, Thurow, and Minsky. If only I had known then what I know now...  ;)
