Between the 2...The Jacksons. I do think the DeBarge family is just as, if not more, talented, but the Jackson Family (not counting solo careers) have a lot more memorable, classic songs. A better match up would be, IMHO, between DeBarge and The Sylvers.

Or if we're going international, DeBarge versus Five Star.

Between DeBarge and the Jacksons though?  Definitely the Jacksons, I even like some of their songs without Michael.

Let's take their MVPs off the table.  No MJ.  No El. 

Janet, Jermaine and the other siblings vs. Bunny (incredible songwriter), Tommy (wrote and sang all the hits in Switch), James, etc.

Janet had nearly ten years of dominance as a solo act.

Even if you leave her out of it, Jermaine had a pretty decent solo run in the mid 80's.

I have difficu,ty remembering anything Debarge did without El.

Not saying there didnt have hits without him I just can't remember them right now.

Don't forget Chico DeBarge.

But I got to give this to the Jacksons. I mean without Michael, Janet alone was a superstar. After El, there was Chico and he came nowhere near Janet's height.
