Sidney Poitier. Nothing against Belafonte, but Poitier comes first to mind when I think of actors.

Absolutely. But in terms of living legends? I think I give the edge to Mr. Belefonte.

No question about it... this is a Hard Choice, however, the reason I choose Sidney Poitier is because I've seen more of his work in the theater than Mr. Belafonte.

Besides, could Harry Belafonte direct a classic like 'Stir Crazy'?

A REALLY hard choice!

I'd choose Belafonte for his passionate civil rights activism and putting his money where his mouth is.
Poitier I'd chose for his timeless......swagger.  He's the consummate actor of ALL time!

On the other hand, Belafonte sings, dances and acts.

Okay, I'd prefer to have dinner with Sidney, but I'll concede most legendary to Harry.

compared to mr poiter Belafonte is the ultimate g. he has contribute way more then Sidney in terms of African culture and black films in particular.

Mr. Potier- great actor.

Mr. Belafonte-great singer, actor and humanitarian/activist.

This only becomes hard if we limit the discussion to thier entertainment contributions, imo.
