Man, just look at that all that fan adulation...
...and Leadership!
The Ladies just Love Cool J

Knight F3... your turn.
My problem with that is it's all from the same issue. It was a fun issue to dedicate to Jarvis, but those scenes seem to be few and far between. Jarvis is much more often depicted as the faithful manservant to Tony Stark and the Avengers, ready to fix a snack and tidy up. There are exceptions to the rule, but they're not as common as what we see with Alfred.

Jarvis is the heart of the Avengers but they can survive without him (as we saw in much of Bendis's New Avengers run following Civil War). Alfred, on the other hand, acts as a medic to Batman when he needs it, the moral compass willing to stand up to the scary intimidating Bat, and even an active participant in the fight to protect Gotham. This was just recently on display in Batman Eternal. After getting really messed up by Hush, he recovered and kicked major butt with Bane - the man who broke The Bat! He even impressed him with his skill.
Now that stuff only matters if we are talking about which character kicks butt. But I'm also looking at it regarding their place in comics. Alfred is an integral part of Batman's history and fictional heroics. Jarvis, while a really good guy and beloved, isn't as necessary. We like him, but we don't need him.
But this is comics and character worth is always in the eyes of the reader.
