Last Annihilation: Wakanda Introduces the Dora Milaje's Newest Recruit (Exclusive)Marvel Comics presents an exclusive preview of Last Annihilation: Wakanda #1, by Evan Narcisse and Germán Peralta.BY LIAM NOLANMarvel Comics has given CBR an exclusive preview of The Last Annihilation: Wakanda #1, by Evan Narcisse, Germán Peralta, Jesus Aburtov and VC's Cory Petit. The preview teases T'Challa/Black Panther joining the fight against Dormammu as well as Zenzi training with the Dora Milaje, Wakanda's most elite group of fighters.
The Last Annihilation: Wakanda #1 is part of that titular crossover, which has seen Dormammu possess Ego the Living Planet. From there, the classic Doctor Strange has set out to conquer five planets, including Skrullos, Hala and Aerie. This has meant recruiting some of the Marvel Universe's biggest hitters, including Doctor Doom, Billy Kaplan/Wiccan, Teddy Altman/Hulkling and, as this preview shows, Black Panther.
The early part of The Last Annihilation: Wakanda #1 explores some of the fallout following the main Black Panther title exploring the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda, which was created by Ta-Nehisi Coates and Daniel Acuña. Among the reveals is that Zenzi -- the daughter of the villainous Emperor N'Jadaka -- has indeed been training with the Dora Milaje following the apparent death of her father. However, M'Baku, who narrates these updates, notes he's unsure Zenzi, whose eyes glow with a mysterious power that is likely related to Bast, will prove a friend or foe in the future. Soon after, the preview shifts focus to T'Challa, who decides to help in the battle against Dormammu at the behest of Commandor Abigail Brand.

I liked what Shuri told Commander Brand about how to address her brother. I think T'Challa stating it was an empire he did not build was an unnecessary deflation of his status as emperor. I would have preferred him stating he is in the midst of reshaping an empire that spans five galaxies or say nothing in that regard. Too soon to be delegating authority to M'Baku. We need a T'Challa centered story, especially one that sees him victoriously leading his intergalactic empire into glorious battle. Nuff said.1041304
