Watched the Coates Q&A at Amalgam Comics. You can see it here: https://www.facebook.com/amalgamphilly/videos/1106071119500129/

A few highlights:

-Coates planned on using the original Crew, but then found out that Josiah Bradley was unavailable (complicated reasons, apparently) and that Rhodey was going to be killed. Thus, he went a different direction.

-Bast was supposed to appear in issue #13, but that might not happen. Coates didn't mention Bast not showing up at all, so anything is possible.

-The previous Panthers are set to appear in season 2, possibly as early as issue #13.

-Narratively, Coogler and the MCU will probably be influenced by a lot of Priest and some Hudlin.

-Visually, Cooger and the MCU will be probably influenced a lot by Stelfreeze.

-Coates talks to Coogler often, as they are friends. However, Coates isn't involved in the making of the film.

Thanks Wakandan!  Would have made sense for T'Challa to reach out to Kasper Cole the Acolyte of the Black Panther as well as Luke and Misty, Blade and Monica Rambeau. No explanation as to why Storm would sign on, nor be allowed back in Wakanda, but makes as much sense as anything else so far I guess?  Not sure Junta would makes sense unless Kasper insisted or T'Challa had a specific use for his powers in mind?  Would love to see Kasper in action again!  I get that they don't want him as the White Tiger, but he was drawn so tight in The Crew!  How about simply calling him The Acolyte!?!

Badass!

My two cents!

Peace,

Mont

It would have made the most since to simply call his Ultimates crew  TBH

Kasper, LUke, Monica makes more since than Luke, Storm, Misty though at this point

Agreed!  Why not call in the Ultimates?  I could see T'Challa wanting to keep some personal distance I suppose?

Peace,

Mont

True speak: TChalla shouldn't have to call in anyone. This dude dropped MEPHISTO with ONE PUNCH. He'd crush Tetu or Zenzi or whatever.

Well that's good to know. I was really concerned about the MCU going the "Coates-Panther" route. Good to know somebody has some sense with the direction team working with Marvel Studios

T'challa wanted to see what Misty was all about? Um, she got her butt-kicked by the villains in the fight. LOL!

Sales numbers for BP #7 are out.

Black Panther #7: 60,857

http://www.comichron.com/monthlycomicssales/2016/2016-10.html

Not the big sales bump some may have expected due to The Crew's appearance but still...60K for a BP book at this stage of the game? I'll take that. Plus, it did get a second printing.

Curious on how the rest of the season will fare.

Damn, those are very impressive numbers of Coates. I wonder if they will continue to drop or if it will be up and down from month to month.

I think it'll continue to drop, but steadily.

I suspect that by the end of season 1 (#12) sales should be around 40k.

I do wonder if Coates will be able to repeat the 70k-80k numbers for season two. That would be very telling.
