I thought hiring Anika Noni Rose as Yemandi was a stroke of genius.
I knew her voice instantly

Y'all didn't like this episode?
Didn't like the Princess & the Frog take? Such a clever way to introduce Throg, too!
Yemendi was the truth. I like her (and so does Thor)
I wonder if that'll ever come up in conversation.

I like the more story driven, serious, show just how powerful T'Challa the Black Panther is episodes. Definitely like Yemandi.

Now this is an episode I can sink my teeth into. A well executed excursion into the history and mythology of the Black Panther and Wakanda; the introduction of another original character; add to that, we find out what happen to Captain America. Red Jack and team pull off another successful episode. These are the kind of ideas and character development the on going should be delivering monthly.

I liked it more than last week, but I didn't like the inclusion of the ancient Atlantians.

Also Bashenga was too soft and no Bast or heart shaped herb. Out of the four origin stories; Coates dead last, Panthers Quest, Original Lee/Kirby, and Movie in first.

Agreed, the Atlanteans were so inconsequential. 100% agree that Bashenga was milquetoast. I was thinking that more of Bashenga's past along with other BP essentials will be brought up in the next episode. My ranking will be reserved til the conclusion of the season.

Larry Houston here. I was the Producer/Director of the 90s X-MEN animated series and I added that FIRST cameo of the Black Panther into my show. I also directed the first Black Panther episode in the FANTASTIC FOUR Second Season. That BP episode, I am really proud of. Actor Keith David was the voice of the Black Panther. Looking forward to the live-action movie.

I just finished watching Marvel's Avengers: Black Panther's Quest - "King Breaker Pt. 1 & 2". I'll try and limit as much as possible any real spoilers. The overall feel for me is that the Black Panther works best with him not having to share significant screen time with the Avengers or other supporting characters.

This sharing causes a fire hose effect necessary for showcasing the talents and skill set of his co-stars and for the most part those exploits prove superfluous. I much prefer a laser approach to the Black Panther. One that is coherent and surgical in its focus on the Black Panther's extensive power set. Other wise we are left with Shuri providing the submarine; Hunter's extensive espionage skills; Stark's repulsor welding; assistance in taking on a bunch of Atlanteans  red shirt and a  conscience-stricken or repentant T'Challa.

I am well aware this is Black Panther under the Avengers banner... and thus far a credible and respectful amount of the narrative has been BP and Wakandan centered and those are the best parts. T'Challa, the Black Panther stands better when he is on the fringes of the Marvel Universe and in opposition to the mainstay Marvel characters.
