Trekcore.com has reviews for some Picard novels, getting anyone interested ready for the Picard show. These are non-canon books, but most focus on Picard, and one on Seven of Nine who will be on the show. I've read many of the ones reviewed so far, over the years, and I definitely recommend Imzadi, especially if you were a TNG fan. I also liked Q Squared a lot as well. Vendetta I also enjoyed a lot. I think it was the first big Borg story and took place way before movie "First Contact". The Dark Heart was also a big, fun adventure from what I remember. Valiant was a decent story about how Picard took command of the Stargazer, his ship before he got the Enterprise.

Though I don't think they've done reviews for these, but others I could see being part of this retro review series are:

Resistance
Greater Than the Sum
Death Before Dishonor

I've read all of those, and I enjoyed most, except Death Before Dishonor, which came off as too over-the-top. Winter takes place after the movie Nemesis and the other novels take place after that. The Borg plays a big role in Resistance, Greater Than The Sum, Death Before Dishonor, and the Destiny trilogy.
