very cool-- I hope this gets picked up for a full season.  Lots of new opportunities for black actors, and hopefully writers and directors as well.

So does Black Lightning have anything in the way of a rogues' gallery?
Was his original comic series mostly human gangsters and the like?

Is this going to be based in "Southside" of Metropolis ("suicide slum"?)

While waiting for the series to drop, here's the first part of a Black Lightning fan film. I hope DC allows them to finish it.

Black Lightning Showrunner Hopes To Use Static Shock

First of all, I really wish people would stop calling the character Static Shock. It's just Static.

Second of all, Black Lightning and Static don't need each other.

Yeah. I think the cartoon title just stuck with people. It might be too late to get regular people to just call him Static by this point. While I don't think Black Lightning and Static need each other, I still would like to see Static on the show. I think Lightning could be a good mentor to Static, and if it gets Static, and hopefully Milestone, more exposure (positive exposure) then I'm all for that.

Black Lightning doesn't have a lot of villains, so actually he could use-if not necessarily need-some of the Milestone villains and heroes. Black Lighting could be a great way to bring in these underused and underrated characters. If CW does this right, Lightning could be their version of Netflix's Luke Cage show. But it could be even more if they bring in a lot of Milestone characters.

I agree with this.
With BL being a legacy hero who is older, having Static allows us to see a younger version learn and train to use these powers.
