The Grammy's
« on: February 12, 2007, 11:35:07 AM »
I watched it with the wife, (I have to watch something with her every now and then to keep my allotment of Socom and PC surfing time going!!) LOL

Anyway, Shakira and Wyclef Jean were "off da HOOK!!" by far the best performance of the night,,,

I watched the first 5 minutes for the Police and switched back to the Simpsons.  The rest of the music doesn't really interest me other than the Red Hot Chili Peppers and maybe Shakira.

I will be tuned in for the Academy Awards though.  Hoping the Departed does well!

I'm not sure what the big deal about the Police reunion was. The Police were pretty much always a one  man band (Sting).

I mean, how many Stuart Copeland fans are there?

I liked Corrine Rae Baley's performance a lot.

Shakira's performace was so much more energetic than the other performances, it made it seem better than it actually was (not that it was bad 'tho).

I thought Sting, sounded really really well, that slowed down Roxanne was very good. But I couldn't help but thinking = DUDE!! put a shirt on under that Vest!! for pete's sake your like 50 or something!!

I was thinking just the opposite for Shakira.. :)

For the last 20 years, Sting has been singing Police songs with 2 other guys.  It doesn't matter who he plays with but having original members back made me a little nostalgic.

Shakira can sing whatever she wants, as long as she shakes those hips.  Its like she's the sweet girl next door who knows how to get dirty  ;D

In the room these shows can be different than they are on TV.

Chris Brown was great, Mary was great, John Legend, Corinne Bailey Rae....hey, Rascal Flatts did a fine job with Hotel California!

I will definitely see the Police when they go on tour.  Loved the Gnarls Barkley performance.

Mary was great

Call me cold hearted, and I've only heard clips, but I just wanna say "waaah" whenever she starts babbling on about how bad she's had it.  Forget the break down and just sing.

Man, I saw her 5 minutes before the show started and her eyes were welled up. she was so nervous and so overwhelmed by the support for her she was completely emotional.  You had to be affected when you saw how real it was for her.

I think when something is truly heart-felt and you come from and through what she has if she wants to let a tear or two fall she earned it. It beats that fake B.S.

Mary is an artist and the one thing that is better then her singing is her song writing. She should publish her writing.

Hype, I caught the commercial from Prince and it was the best commercial of the nite.  Best grammy telecast (IMO) in years.  Not just the grammy's but other awards shows I like the non host format. it seems to make the telecast move faster.

gotta ????? 2 ask.  am I the only person that had a bitter taste in my mouth from Jamie Foxx speaking ill toward BET during / and as the very first presenter of the nite?  naw brah J Foxx ya could have kept that joke and on the worldstage during the biggest nite in music awards the BET comment relating to Snoop was not a good thing   >:(

RHCP was the best performance of the show but they played too late. They should have been the second ones up there.

Christina Aguilera can sing, not too bad looking also If I do say so myself.

I didn't take Jamie's comment as a dis at all.  I took it as "this joke is too hip for this room - the BET audience would get it".  He plugged our network on a globally televised show on ANOTHER network.

Also, re: are there Stuart Copeland fans...I am!  You ever listen to this soundtrack for RUMBLE FISH?  Genius!

Ah man, I thought I was the only one. Copeland is the man!
