https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzorZUuZqEIThis time around, Tom Cruise gets to take on an ancient evil. Another crazy airplane sequence like the last
Mission Impossible film. Neat..
It's a female mummy this time around, played by
Sofia Boutella
. Looks like she can do some of the same stuff as the previous Amhotep (or whatever his name was), in the first two Brendan Fraser films.
- sandstorms
controlling rats
controlling bugs
summoning birds
Interesting that Universal wants to make their monster properties into a shared universe now. I remember seeing
Dracula Untold with Luke Evans a few years ago, it was pretty decent, though I don't think the American box office was as big as the international.

Wolf Man remake, though looks like the producers will make the next one taking place in the modern day.
And of course, here's Russell Crowe sharing space as Dr. Henry Jekyll. So you know what's coming up eventually. I wonder who they're going to get to star in
Frankenstein,
Wolf Man, and
Creature from the Black Lagoon. I presume that
Phantom of the Opera will be in the mix as well.
Too bad this stuff won't be crossing over with
Marvel, it could be great to see the hero vs. monster matchups.
I wonder, will the films have the conceit that the
Frankenstein and
Dracula novels were published but assumed to be fiction by the general public.
