My Wife Had a Heart Attack
« on: May 22, 2017, 10:52:20 am »
On Mother's Day, my wife (age 43) had a heart attack.  The doctors (and her cardiologist) are still perplexed.  She's a pescatarian of 2 years and doesn't fit ANY of the risk factors.
She had chest pains and we eventually ended up at the hospital.
While the doctors were running tests, a top cardiologist just happened to be visiting. He saw her charts and told them that we're operating ASAP.
I was too naive or too optimistically positive to realize that I was supposed to be scared. My wife was too!
Even when the cardiologist told me to "pray" and the man that was following me around was the Hospital Chaplin (WTF?! Why do I need a chaplin?), it never dawned on me that this was major.
She's home now. She spent a few days in the hospital and I was there with her and for her every day until today.  My PTO has run out so I need to get return.
She's slowly getting better.
I can't wait to go home to check on my wife.

Mastrmynd, we're with you brother. Thank goodness she's recovering. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both.

Sorry for your family tragedy.  Glad you dealt with it in a timely fashion.

These things can be genetic.  Her healthy diet probably helped her a lot.

Thanks family!
I really appreciate the love.
She's slowly getting better physically.
Emotionally, it hits her from time to time that this could have been MUCH worse.
Overall, she's thankful, but she's dealing.

Oh my gosh! :o

How did I miss this topic!

Very sorry about your family emergency.  Hoping your wife is recovering safely, and feeling better.

The key to managing heart problems is diet & exercise.

Thanks bruh!
Slowly, but surely. We had an honest talk last night and she's still shocked and scared. To eat right and do right, but this still happens? She doesn't understand.
I'm thankful that it isn't as bad as it could have been.

I'm still dealing with the fact that they assigned a chaplin to me while she was in OR. I didn't know who that white man was and why was he was shadowing me until he introduced himself.
Is this a common practice?
I've never seen a hospital chaplin before.

Just saw your post - so sorry to hear about this buddy, but glad to hear she is getting better. I know it's scary, but do the research, talk to the right people and make a plan going forward. Together, you guys can face anything!
