I miss the Avengers.
« on: July 22, 2017, 08:42:35 am »
Long time Marvel fan.  Always preferred Avengers over the JLA.  But now a days, I read the JLA; at least it's the real JLA.

But Avengers... It ain't the real stuff.  I miss them.

Which team do you consider the "real" team?

I thought the Kang arc was rather avenger-y, even if the roster isn't right now.

Having a "super team" full of newbs (comic wise) and D list people sin't exactly a recipe for financial success though

Btu on the Avengers subject

The best "Avengers" book the last few years has actually been Uncanny Avengers.

The vol 1 apocalypse/kang/celestial/redskull arc is one of my favorite stories ever. Big time stakes, all the great comic book crazy sh*t from celestials to magic ax to time travel ect. Remender killed that sh*t. ANd its completely contained in one story.

And then Duggan's vol 3 the last couple years was great after the first mediocre arc.

I actually didn't like that story at all.  The art didn't help.

Who are the real Avengers? My team is the one we see in the 170s, specifically around battle with Count Neferia.

But you have to have at least one of the big three: Steve, Tony or Thor.

I want to see the Black Panther lead an Avengers team for once.  It's never happened, near as I can tell.

Why not Avengers Africa, at the very least.  They have a continent to protect. If I got to have a team of seven for an arc, I'd have:
Panther, Storm, Spider-Man (Miles), Cage, War Machine, Spectrum, Shuri.
Be Kind to Someone Today.

I actually never cared about the Avengers until Hickman took over and I tried to hang around when Waid took over because of the Marvel Teen Trinity but I wasn't feeling it

O Honestly like Hickmans New avengers up until it started sacrificing Character continuity for plot and became s Reed and friend vs Doom.

I would take and reboot Ewing's Ultimates an re do the roster Because the premise for the team is solid

I'd give him a co-writer as I love Ewing but he can get lost in his head and just do 22 pages of philosophy, I need someone getting punched after a while yo

The miss the feeling I had when reading the Busiek/Perez Avengers following Heroes Reborn. It felt like we were finally back to the REAL Avengers. Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Ms. Marvel & Wonder Man. There was only one team, they lived in the mansion & actually liked each other. I honestly haven't had that feeling since Chuck Austin's ridiculously stupid run on the book.

Except, I was grown (despite what my wife might say) when Priest and you revived the Black Panther and Wakanda!  8). Just sayin'!

Peace,
