I'm super late to this series, but gave Vol.1 a try and it was amazing.

Doc Ock is is a better Spiderman and Peter Parker. lol

Superior Spider-Man is one of the best things i've read.

It was genius. Read the whole volume. It was a great story. It eventually turns into a great Peter Parker story too.

And if you haven't, get Superior Foes of Spider-Man. Best thing Nick Spencer ever wrote

It illustrates how the immorality of Octavious overwhelmed any of the "good" he did as Spider-Man.  His arrogance and egotism basically made a wreck of everything in the end.
