documentry, "Bastard of the Party" on HBO...
« on: February 25, 2007, 04:38:59 pm »
Anyone see this?  produced by antiono fuqa, its about the history of gangs in LA, tracing them back to the 40's with the migration of blacks from the south, to the decline of the black nuclear family which directly coinceds with the decline of blue collar unskilled workers in LA, etc etc.  Its quite amazing honestly, I hope it makes it on DVD so I can show my kids (at school)...

Caught the middle and end of it. Was informative. I think they also mentioned that the decline of the black panther party and the civil rights movement played apart in these young men deciding to "get together" and later you have the formation of the gang element.

It was really good I thought. Espcially since it told the story more form the Bloods side of things. I think we have it on tivo. It is definately worth the watch a lot of true facts came out in that piece.

Do go on, Sam. Sounds interesting.

Caught this last night.  Very, very informative.

[I had this whole tirade about Whites being responsible for the problems Blacks face but I'll keep it to myself [I don't want to get into it and I'm just as sure no one wants to hear it, either]]

Good Doc, though.  Director was in Training Day, one of the Bloods in the Jungle where Denzel set up his second family.
