I'll see the film again soon.. but for the moment, I forgot--

Did Killmonger ever directly ask why Wakanda didn't intervene in the slave trades?

M'Baku's appearance in that scene was also powerful and "fight or fright" inducing, but the way they cut to T'Challa and his stone cold predator glare at the Jabari tribe's interruption... again the stage presence was gawdly.

Again i give the side eye to people who question this.

T'Challa was much more layered, nuanced, and thought provoking than say Bruce Wayne in the Dark Knight movie... who was a complete after thought to Heath Ledger.

It's because they have nothing left.

Haters and Unfans keep waiting for the next shoe to drop to prove this movie aint good

- people said the RT scores were biased becasue the movie was black. Nope, it really was good
- It wouldn't make 100mil opening weekend. It couldn't beat deadpool. "oh its not fair its a 4 day weekend." Oh, it only made so much becasue celebrities bought tickets for people. blah blah blah... nope 200+ mil
- "nobody will want to see it twice. People are just going once because its an event movie." Nope... second weekend had the lowest drop in sales of any MCU film. And only the third film with triple digit second weekend.
- "China will sink the movie." ........... ruh roh! higher pre sales than Spider-Man

So now they gotta find something else to moan and complain about.

Just wait til the Storm fans come out of the woodwork again. right now they are too shook by what happened.

Wonder what Cinemasins (Everything Wrong With), Honest Trailers and How it should have Ended are going to do with Black Panther?!?

I can see Honest Trailers doing something like "Meet T'Challa the Black Panther, who's part Iron Man ("I bought this building, and that building, and that one also," compared to IM's "How quickly can we buy this buidling?! in Age of Ultron), part Captain America (showing him kick W'Kabi really hard), part Thor (showing him sit on the throne), part Batman (dropping out of the Royal Talon Fighter and throwing the EMP beads), part Spider-Man video game (running on the side of the wall in Busan), part James Bond (Casino fight scene), part actual jungle cat (on the tree in Sambisa forest)." They'll probably talk about Shuri being funny too and Killmonger's motivations as well. They'll also compare it to Thor: Ragnarok. Honestly (no pun intended), unless they don't try hard enough their trailers for good films are rarely funny. The Civil War one comes to mind.

CinemaSins will definitely be harsh and nitpick, and that's kinda their thing.

Ah I forgot to put the "part Simba" bit with the Astral Plane thing. I was doing that because they did it to Batman in BvS, which I found funny.

And my personal favorite scene of the movie was Challenge day, particularly the scene where the studio music is cut and all you hear are the Wakandans chanting his name as the camera focuses behind him as he walks out of his ship to center stage, full tribal paint on.  That moment was chillin, and Chadwick's stage presence was powerful and regal

Everything about the coronation/first tribal challenge was perfection.

The beginning and end of the fight... with T'challa stone cold accepting the challenge before M'baku even stopped talking... to the end, where T'challa shows mercy and the fact he is a king by telling M'baku his people need him... but at the same time willing to choke the life out of him if he didn't tap out.

Curious.  That could have made for an interesting exchange. Ah well... :-)

Don't know if its canon, but Hudlin talked about it in his first annual.

They bought and freed slaves. Trained them to sink slave ships.
But when the colonial powers found out they sent 10 waves of armies to attack the Wakandans. So the BP of the time offered peace instead of going to full scale war.

Obviously they couldn't go to war as that would have change history and wouldn't be "Marvel outside your window ". The same way Cap is in WW2, but he usually fight Hydra instead of participating in the big battles.

Wow. Saw Black Panther... That was amazing. I gotta say, my only regret is that I read spoiler's, but cotdamn that was the best Marvel Movie ever. It felt like it had so much more substance to it then other super hero movies, the scenery was beautiful, I didn't cry in the first part but dammit did my heart soar and feel pride for my heritage, my favorite scenes were on warrior falls for Sure, those were also probably the best choreographed fights in all of the marvel movies . They felt gritty and raw, not advanced tech, no superpower shenanigans, steel on steel combat..

The weight behind the words, and the scenes were do powerful. I truly felt bad for Erik. I kind of wish he didn't die. It had to be done of course but I felt for the dude but that scene with the sunset with him and Tchallas Actually got me teared up a bit, it was a very powerful scene and very symbolic considering that he gave Erik a proper burial and to me was him correcting his father's sins  with his brother.. Tchalla.. my Man... Powerful, I know Okoye Nakia and Shuri were scene stealers but Tchalla commanded every scene. That, is how you show Tchalla vulnerable, T'chadwick nailed his role that dude can bring the house down, real weight behind the tears and you can feel his pain in both encounters and sympathize with him (same with Eriks scene with his father). Honestly I don't get how people thought Tchalla looked bad with his fight with Erik. He was distraught, Shuri yelled at him to snap out of it to, because you could tell he wasn't strolling with that same confidence he was with M'Baku (BTW I want this M'Baku in the comics please!) But I still think he did well for a guy who just had his image of his father crushed.

My only complaint? The movie felt too short. And by that I mean that I didn't want it to end. There was less action in the movie then other Marvel films (or maybe not because the first movies aren't super action heavy ad the sequels) but I felt the action mattered and felt more complementary then required. I was so engrossed by the heavy themes I didn't need a ton of over the top action and explosions. It was a serious movie with action both super hero type and political with a powerful message about current climates in Black communities. The ending was so inspiring.

I could go on and on but it's late. 20/10 for me though.

Wakanda Forever!!!

Post-BP Movie Ezyo finally arrived!

Goes back to my conversation with 4sake, that comic book "fans" are really largely just pieces of sh*t that give the small minority of sane ones a bad name.

I saw some reactionary videos from non-comic book fans, and particularly african girls, and they loved the pacing, were captivated from beginning to end, and loved T'Challa/Nakia.  I also some of the reviews from credible journalist sites and they praised Boseman's performance.

Then i read some of the "professional" comic book youtuber sites, and i'm hearing stuff about pacing issues in the beginning and T'Challa was the least interesting/no arc?

Pacing issues in the beginning??  ??? You mean the entire set  up Wakanda, the Challenge Day and T'Challa's conversation with his father, Nakia, and W'Kabi that set up his entire arc?  ???

Those same dumbies say that it was Killmonger's dream T'Challa was carrying out at the end when clearly it was Nakia's, which was established early in the movie.

And lowkey they jealous that BP has Shuri, which is why the comic nerds are so desperate to fling her to Iron Man or Peter Parker
