Thanks for sharing the list. Of your list I've read the Autobiography of Malcolm X and Nat Turner.

Here are some of my suggestions:

The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Alex Haley and Malcolm X
Black Power by Kwame Ture and Charles V. Hamilton
Radio Free Dixie by Timothy B. Tyson
The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin
The Black Jacobins by C.L.R James
The Shadow of the Panther by Hugh Pearson
Forty Million Dollar Slaves by William Rhoden
We Have No Leaders by Franklin W. Smith
The Black Culture Industry by Ellis Cashmore
Unbought and Unbossed by Shirley Chisholm
Native Son by Richard Wright
Lion's Blood by Steven Barnes
Devil in a Blue Dress by Walter Mosley
Dark Corner by Brandon Massey
Incognegro & Papa Midnite by Mat Johnson
Nat Turner by Kyle Baker
Who is the Black Panther? & Flags of Our Fathers by Reginald Hudlin
Ink by Eric Wallace
Icon, Hardware, & The New Fantastic Four, by Dwayne McDuffie
Luke Cage Noir by Mike Benson
Shaft: A Complicated Man by David F. Walker
Black Indians by William Loren Katz
The Negro Cowboys by Phillip Durham
Joplin's Ghost by Tananarive Due (I didn't technically read this one, I listened to the audio book, and I thought that was pretty good. Learned a lot about Joplin and ragtime era).
Marvel's Black Panther by Todd Burroughs (Still reading it, but it is an informative read)

When it comes to American R&B music (any genre black music actually),  Nelson George is unquestionably one of my favorite writers.

Back in-the-day, every week, when he scribed music reviews for The Village Voice, was a fairly reliable source of useful information.
