Does anyone know of any instances where TChalla has been called one of the greatest hand to hand combatants/martial artists/fighters in the world or a master of hand to hand combat or some such in a comic (not a handbook)? If so, could someone tell me which series.

I don't know of any. I mean, in all honesty, the character is only as strong as who's writing him. When Peter David was writing Aquaman, he put him right behind Superman and Wonderwoman in the strength category. That actually makes a lot of sense but few writers ever write him that way. Rankings make no sense to me. Also because so much is dependant on what is 'in the comic' versus 'off panel'.

For example, you see the x-men training ALL the time. Arguably they would be the best most efficient 'team' in all of Marvel comics. And yet, they essentially 'tie' when battling teams like the avengers. You hardly ever see the Avengers train, and yet they're supposedly the best team out there. Amazo was probably given his BEST treatment ever from a writer in about 20 years in the last issue of JLA by McDuffie, in all reality this guy would be the most dangerous villian they ever face, up until that issue he's pretty much always written as a joke, heck earlier in this same run when Brad Meltzer wrote him he got taken out in the lamest way possible by Vixen. This last month they were lucky to get out alive.

The point is, Skills are nothing compared to the power of whoever is writing the book.

^^^Good points! Sooo...succinctly stated...a character's skills are only as ill as the writer plotting the book.We know this already,but it hasn't been bluntly put to us in this specific way.Good job,blkyoda.

^^^I would also add that to the skills issue, besides the writer:

Until other writers accept the skill level/power level of character, it doesn't necessarily hold.  For example, one SPider-man writer decided that if Doc Ock had adamantium arms, he could beat the Hulk.  Peter David disagreed.  So, Doc Ock shows up in Hulk and Hulk effortless takes out the Doc. 

BPs skill has been echoed by Stan Lee in FF and by Captain America.

What about superscience gadget skills? In his pitch to Marvel,RH said RH BP was "smarter than Reed Richards". Have we seen that translated in hard tech? Amongst RR,Doom,Tony Starks,The Leader,The High Evolutionary,Hank Pym,Bruce Banner...where wouldja place TChalla's scientific gadget building skills?

As a team leader and/or leader of a nation,where would you rank BP's leadership skills? Over,equal to,less than: CA,Thor,Namor,Storm,Scott,Wolverine,Tony Starks,Nick Fury (616 and Ultimate),Batman,Ras al Ghul,Doom,Magneto,Prof. X,Black Bolt,etc?

Last Marvel Encylopeida, the hard cover stuff, had RR a full level ahead of BP.

But being smart as/smarter than is a nebulious term; because it depends on how and where it is applied.

Also BP is at disadvantage.  Let me use Doom/BP and light weight armor as an example.  At first to seems impressive that BP built a light weight armor when he was 3 yrs younger than Doom; but it really isn't.  BP was educated from birth by finest minds.  He is a a product of eugenics.  He is rich and has access to tons of tech.  (His first grade chem set was btr than the one Doom had at the university.)  Doom on the other hand was a gyspy orphan who taught himself all of those sciences, and many from scratch.  To build it, he had no money but used whatever he could aquire somehow.  BP had all the advantages, Doom had nothing.  Yet; Doom still matched it with a few yrs of same age.

The same goes for BP n RR.  BP knowldge comes from standing on shoulders of a nation of super science.  Reed has matched and surpased that standing on the American Educational system (and his father.)  (In the old continium, BP started with a real world African education and from that he built a super-science nation from scratch.  That showed him to be Reed's rival or better.)

This means another disadavantage for BP.  To prove his intellect, he can't match Reed's inventions, he has to surpasss them.  What I mean is this--Reed's super science is super because he invents things (say) 100 yrs more advance than the average the US scientist.  For BP to be equally intelligent; he would have to invent things 100 yrs more advance than anything else an average Wakanda scientist would invent, because BP is starting with higher tech.

But the High Evolutionary has done more than all three of them.  So maybe he is smartest.

(but in my goal to have an SI long post again, let me add) But it is really hard to play the who is smarter game.  Reed seems like he builds tech that is on par with Brainaic 5, who has super-intelliegence and 30th century tech.   On paper that really doesn't work.

Ultimate Reed gives us a better view of Reed's intellect.  The stretching actually makes him smarter.  His brain is well, getting bigger and making connections human brain's can't.  He is geometrically growing smarter, so even if Ult T'challa  was smarter than Reed in 2008, he wouldn't be smarter in 2010.

Everybody seems to be forgetting our very own N'Jadaka, who has held his own repeatedly against BP and fought against Deadpool, etc.  I think he definitely needs to be ranked up there.  And a little off topic, does anyone want to see him and BP team up, legitimately? (we know he'll be back  )
