Thank you for all the updates Brother Ture! I will never see this film for many of the reasons you’ve iterated. Additionally, I am sick of the fascination with fatalism that these young creatives seem to revere. Fictional heroes should transcend mortality, especially when it comes to the imbalance of representation by characters who look like us. The emotional overreaction of the cast and crew that allowed them to co-sign the decision to kill off T’Challa is actually causing a schism in the Black community as those of us who find the decision untenable are being accused of everything from misogyny to infantilism to being “anti-woke” when most have only asked that they not kill off who for many of us is the first superhero we encountered that looked like us. A hero whose adventures we’ve followed for decades and hoped to see more of on the silver screen. No disrespect to Chadwick Boseman, who’s loss I mourned two years ago, T’Challa is a larger than life, iconic character who did not need to die for a third time in less than 3 MCU appearances. I believe Chadwick would feel so too from what I’ve seen and heard of his reverence for the character and the fans. What Coogler, Moore, Feige and Marvel have done is turn T’Challa into a joke who will be remembered, if at all for dying and all for their ill-conceived desire to turn Wakanda into Black Themyscira while swapping an historic Black male icon for a newly minted Mexican male idol and revenue stream. Why is their only room for one minority male monarch in the MCU? They were set to have positive Black representation for Black boys and girls to witness the power of strong male and female heroes working together, but decided instead to take the opportunity mitigate costs and eliminate a strong Black unencumbered male character, dishonoring the work Chadwick put in and snubbing their noses at true fans of T’Challa, son of T’Chaka and N’Yami, King of Wakanda.

No peace,

Mont

I give it a 6 out of 7, it doesn’t for me hold up to thinking about it after seeing it last Thursday. The glooming specter of No T’Challa hung heavy on this movie and that was self inflicted on their end but I’ve seen Leticia in many things and her actin has always been flat and sadly she has to carry this movie and she couldn’t for me. Everyone is acting circles around her including Riri and she’s not in it that much and felt like a tact on add-on, much like the stuff with Ross and Fontaine.

The discourse over this movie is just going to intensify ala Last Jedi as the days go on because folks are already upset it’s not tracking as well as the first movie and I’ve already seen people complaining that nobody cared about T’Challa until he married Storm so I now see why folks have soured on MCU and MCU/semi comic fans.

More than welcome Brother Mont. Your passionate post read so well it had to reposted for its unerring facts with regard to the false culture enveloping T'Challa the Black Panther.

Another fine post quoted for truth. Thank you for the excellent movie critique Mad Coco G

'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' star Angela Bassett 'objected' to Queen Ramonda twist and asked Ryan Coogler: 'What are you doing?'

By Eammon Jacobs

"Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" sees Shuri (Letitia Wright) and her family grieve the loss of King T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) while also clashing with the advanced might of Namor (Tenoch Huerta) and the aquatic citizens of Talokan.

The war between Talokan and Wakanda escalates when Namor floods the African nation, and in a heartbreaking twist, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett) drowns while saving Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) in the throne room.

It's a shocking moment, especially since the film is already heavy with the loss of Chadwick Boseman.

Angela Bassett explained in a new interview with IndieWire that she "objected" to Ramonda's death when speaking to director Ryan Coogler, and thought audiences would hate the twist.

Bassett said: "I objected. Yeah, I was like, 'Ryan, what are you doing? Why? You will rue the day! You will rue the demise of [Ramonda]. People are gonna be so upset.'"

However, the director picked the scene apart for the star and pointed out that there are always ways for characters to return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The star added: "He was like, 'Angela, I know, I know, but look, to die is not really to die in this world. It doesn't really have to mean that.'"

Coogler has a point because Michael B. Jordan's Killmonger briefly returns for a cameo in "Wakanda Forever" when Shuri visits the spirit world after gaining the powers of the Black Panther. While she hopes to see her brother, Shuri instead sees the villainous Killmonger because she's filled with rage over losing both her brother and her mother.

So, it's not impossible that Ramonda could return in some way in the future, because as Bassett puts it: "All kinds of crazy things happen."

The actor went on to explain why the audience means a lot to her, noting that people will watch her performances even after she's gone.

She said: "The audience is family to me, and theater is sacred to me. And so I always think about how it's going to last. It's gonna last on celluloid or digital or whatever you want to call it. It is going to last when I'm long gone."

"Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" is in theaters now.

Disgraceful! Ryan Coogler is a villain the likes of which Wakanda has never encountered! Klaw, Killmonger, Anton Pretorius, Azania, Kiber the Cruel, Achebe, Niganda, Doom, Thanos, none have inflicted a fraction of the damage on Wakanda as has Coogler! None have taken more from fans of T’Challa the Black Panther. His betrayal the latest and greatest from the recent line of Black creatives to attend to the Black Panther.
