Kanye, Common, Jordan, and others (Oprah?)-- time to pull resources.. If I had the chips I'd get in on it..

side note.. I fear Wrigley Field may not be long for this world...

The Cubs franchise is like the Bosox in that they have a rabid fanbase that is 1) fanatically loyal and more importantly, 2) Used to losing.

During the dark days of the early 80' when the Yankees stank, fans stayed away from the stadium.

Many Cubs fans would probably be happy with a .500 team, however.

The baseball biz is at the point where you almost HAVE TO spend money for free agent superstars. All Homegrown talent just won't cut it anymore(the Braves notwithstanding).

After shelling out big-time for A. Soriano (whoops) and a star manager in Lou Pinella, current ownership wants to get off the free spending merry go round.

Pitcher C. Zambrano's contract is up at the end of this season (as a certifiable ace, he'll get Zito (126 million :o, 7 years) money at least. No wonder current ownership wants out.

If your a Chicago fan pray for Mark Cuban or Michael Jordan to buy the team.
