OG Blood Syndicate issue 1

DC Milestone was the best when it came out. Seen so many racy comics that have come out since that are extreme for extreme's sake and have shock value for lack of creativity in many Punisher and other Garth Ennis related material as well as things like Stormwatch and The Authority and the Elite but Blood Syndicate is the OG and everything in this series had a reason for it and was necessary, from Wise Son's cursing to all the extreme violence. Best part is when the reporter gets her head blown off and Flashback goes back in time for 3 seconds to save her. Holocaust just says to Flashback "tell your friend to be more careful" after he burns a man into ashes. McDuffie was ahead of his time and his career later showed and proved that. Cover art by Cowan and Palmiotti as well as pencils by Black Lightning alumni Trevor Von Eeden are all icing on the cake to one of the best issue no. 1 comics ever!

Blood Syndicate was one of my faves in the '90s. Blood Syndicate and Icon are the only Milestone titles I bought somewhat consistently when I made it to the comic book store back then. To be fair I can't recall if the store even carried other Milestone titles, but they did have those two and those are the ones I got.

Funny thing is my least fav was Static and that's the one that really blew up. A cartoon will do that though lol

Back in the day when I was active duty I would take some comics to work to read and share with other comic fans. Back then I would have in my pull list every #1 new release especially Image comics. Blood Syndicate and Static were my least favorite  of Milestone.  The thought of a street gang with powers didn't  appeal to me. For some reason I figured it would be a negative view of black gangbangers.  One of the guys I had duty with read my Blood Syndicate #1, 2 & 3. I recall him asking me when he returned them " Have you read BS. I said nope. He said you should check it out it pretty tight. That's  how I became a fan. I collected every issue until their very last  issiue.
