Glad to know other cats from my hometown are members. I agree that the curfew is a cover but not to boost poll numbers but cover the fact that no budget existed for the Summer Jobs program there was not publicity concerning this program and yet last week Eleanor Holmes Norton held her Annual job fair. Williams wanted to deflect criticism of extended vacations because the truth is he has always been detached from his duties as Mayor. You know the stigma that is attached to the GO-GOs they are dangerous and should be banned

Agreed.  Have to chime in on this one as a DC resident (and St. Louis native) and state that our horrible 45% illiteracy rate also reflects our decision to assimilate the larger culture's worst habits...what happend to the strong people who would sneak to read by the river (and take the chance we would be hung or worse)?  As a writer and a reader it is shameful that some equate reading with "acting White" when "acting Black" means creating a way out of no visible way and flourishing and reading everything and anything in view.  As a Black who came to DC from Chicago with the intention of moving to NYC (must admit) ...things in DC are easier than most places in America but perception is the key to success....now how do we change perception...one willing individual at a time.
