Renaming HGM was a punk move. It showed that the protesters had BET shook. You can't be shook and then try to make a show like HGM and claim it to be controversial, edgy, powerful or whatever. Instead of calling the reporter on his sh*t, they spent way too much time (in my opinion) being bullied around. With the apoproaching O.J. and T.I. trials, the current 15 minutes surrounding the scapegoating of Black Pop culture, most notably Rap music is soon evaporating. I wouldn't be surprised to see Tina make it to Oprah's couch before its all said and done.

With the Superhead and Rap lynching episodes as the standard a Tina interview would fit the triumvirate perfectly.

To be fair, mainstream periodicals ranging from Ebony to USA Today have at least referred to Gina's blog in feature articles.  This has further increased her name recognition and thus helped changed how Black bloggers are viewed in terms of influence.

Hence, love her or hate her, Gina McCauley has had an impact on Black America.  So, it would be odd if Essence didn't have her on the Top 25 list.

Besides, there would be no list at all if you excluded those Black celebrities with critics.  Everyone has their fans and detractors.

What kind of impact? Essentially, this was the PMRC revisited on a much lesser scale during a slow news period. Hot Ghetto Mess lasted an entireity of 132 minutes on the air and the attack surrounding this blip on the continum of the Black experience is worthy of acclaim?

If they want to praise her building a cottage industry out of a non-issue then that is legitimate; but to extend it to some great campaign for the welfare of Black women is asinine.

Then you have the lovely Kitty Glendower, another WAOD supporter. She embodies the reason why there is such a thing as Post Feminism. It's funny, but here you have a 'feminist' who isn't living independently of a man (wanna bet who makes most of the money in that house hold?) and she's describing her husband as "'Mr.' Glendower this" and Mr. Glendower that.." what a hypocrit and loser.

Finally Gina, you wanna bet this woman is on somebody's payroll? I (unlike Gina) can actually say I have no proof to my claims, but anybody who constantly draws connections to the worse music out there to the horrific things that are happening to women without numbers, stats and the like, and then is in turn gven the attention that she's getting has to be an insider of some kind or at least is connected to an insider who is on some crusade to get rid of the black faces in high places in Viacom. Fine, if BET went away, we'll see if she has the spine to continue her hand wringing and cheap Sista Soulja routine. You know she won't - white guys would have to be her target - that ain't happening.

Actually, Christians don't hate gay people, but we will be honest about their lifestyle being sinful just as God is.  Anyone "Christian" who says stuff like "I hate gay people" or "God hates gay people" is more in league with Satan than Jesus.

So, the Christians at WAOD are being true to their name by respecting BlackSeaGoat and his protests against black-on-black violence even if their disagree with his lifestyle.

Exactly who are these "black leaders who don't criticize the black community"?  They are OFTEN cited by black and white talking heads (as opposed to people who do things) but I've never known one.  Jesse and Al certainly criticize black people.  They rail against lyrics, violence, etc...all the stuff these self-styled new jack "leaders" do.  And they actually leave the house sometimes.

But none of these women became feminists because daddy was paying the tuition so they can become feminist and my ex was not a feminists because she could afford to be one due to my yearly income. Did I get teased? Oh Yeah! It was that kind of group. They sent the teacher crying from the room ( that was fascinating to me-I'd never been in a class visited by the assistant principal- I was part of a rebel band- at least til' the bell rang). Although I was a member of the CGU, I never got teased for that- I got the “smart Black fat girl exemption” not to be confuse with the “fat Black girl who can sing exemption” or the “fat Black girl who puts out exemption” or the “fat Black girl who is dating the 35 year old drug dealer who will put a cap in your a@& exemption” or the “fat Black girl who will meet you in a dark alley and beat the crap out of you and your boys exemption”. I can't even read her entire entry full of BS. She's trying to act like she's some kind of hood success story, but she's from EAST TEXAS. There are like...11 black people in East Texas and I'm sure she and her family made up about seven of those 11. Had she said Dallas or Houston, absolutely. Maaaaaybe even Beaumont or Port Arthur. But there is nowhere in East Texas where her fat ass would've been in any REAL danger. If her father was running around sneering at welfare recipients and didn't get chased down and beaten, she lived in a white neighborhood. Oh, her school had the DUKE program? Gee, Gina, maybe that's why you were able to get ahead! And what do you want to bet that only certain students were allowed to take it? I wasn't, because I was a transfer from a Dallas school, which meant that I wasn't allowed to take honors classes until I slept through the BS regular classes for a entire year - never mind that my standardized test scores were in the 93rd percentile statewide.

And don't get me started on her "honors P.E." crap. I spent six years on a tennis court and would've played for Xavier had FAMU not come through with the cash. The thought of her fat ass huffing and puffing and effin' up my sanctuary...tragic! If you don't look like this in a tennis skirt, stay the hell off my court! Do you see my bony ass in Home Ec effin' up the casserole? GRRRRR!!!

Don't pick on East Texas. My family is from that "area" so I guess by your assumption we would have made up the other 4. Anyway She didn't have to have Shea because half the folks in Texas didn't know what that is but she darn well knew what vasoline was/is.
I went to elementary school in Dallas it was very different than here in Ca. But I don't want to go there.
I always thought the best way to get your child to read was to pick up a book yourself. Any child can have the love of reading if they see you a parent/leader reading. I always gave/give my godchildren fun gifts plus a book and or something educational, I have 6 godchildren.
My daughter has library in her room of books that should, might want, and eventually will read over and over again. I have changed out her library at least 3 times and it's about time to do it again.
So maybe the message should be for the adults to pick up a gosh-darn book and read it to a child!

The funny thing is that she brags about how her family never went on welfare, but admits in the same breath that she had accessible family as far up as her great-great grandparents. Can we say D'UH, boys and girls? That would be like me bragging about how we never went on welfare because I grew up in a two-parent household. OH HAI THAR CAP'N OBVIOUS!

And yeah, Cheriel, the less said about the Dallas Independent School District (motto: HAY, IT BEETS ILLTURACY!!!111), the better. My aunt and uncle pay $1,200 a month to keep her three children out of DISD, and I will personally take up a job on the pole to help out if need be. When the average SAT score of a DISD kid is around 730, it's time to just blow the system up and start over. Yet Dallas needs a $1 billion stadium more, apparently.
