Tiger Woods: Simply The Best
« on: August 20, 2006, 06:54:07 pm »
Tiger Woods, stroke for stroke, is the best golfer we will have the pleasure to watch play golf in our lifetime and will go down in history as the best golfer ever.

Brit Open
PGA Championship
Buick Open

and whatever I missed that he won TY, someone else can add.

golf scholars hip me:

Exactly how does one transition from being an amateur to a pro?
It goes without saying that most of the highly visible pros are white dudes, and generally middle-aged to older ones, at that.. Besides Tiger, Vijay.. Who else is out there from Gen X/Y?  (Celebrity enthusiasts don't count!)

What kind of ‘recruitment protocols' find young golfers to go pro?
Naturally, private schools and moneyed suburbs will have more resources for student golf programs.. And of course, most of the courses are in suburbia..

My dad and his brother were into golf for many years.. My dad passed away before Tiger really blew up, though..
I've attended a few clinics, but haven't really got the ‘bug' yet..

I've wondered about this, too.  Didn't Tiger do his the "regular way" by going to college and making a bit hit there before turning pro?
