What DVD's have you bought?
« on: July 26, 2006, 10:24:43 am »
Umm, not sure where to put this thread, this seems good of place as any.  So what are your recent DVD purchases?

Me?

V for Vendetta
La Femme Nikita Season 4 (tv show)
Animaniacs (season 1)
Boondocks season 1 (A PIMP NAMED SLICKBACK!)
Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone COmplex vol. 6
Samurai 7 volume 7

Yeah, big week this week.  Recenty I just picked up the blues brothers special edition.  I'm debating about buying the unaltered star wars movies.  That's about it...

Yo reggie, you watch SPL yet?  i guess the new Weinstein/Tarantino label "Dragon Dynasty" is releasing SPL in the US under the name Killzone, who knows if it will be edited or not, probably not, but anyway, awesome movie...

here in Peru, you know, an original DVD costs like $20.00 that means in local coin like S./ 70.
but you can buy copies of DVD's in any market, at the cost of $.1.3 in local coin like s./ 4.
of course you can have a good copy or a bad copy, but i have my special dealer who sells good copies, copies of original DVD's.

i've recently bought:

''the O.C. complete first season'' (7 discs) very good sountrack.
''la mala educacion'' director Pedro Almodovar

all for less than $ 10.

I think Samurai 7 has been pretty good so far, but if you are not familiar with the classic tale, by KUROWSAWA, then it may seem a little Dry. I really like the fusion of a Futuristic/Fuedal japan ruled by Robotic Yakuza Gangs! My biggest caomplaint is that the soundtrack has not been easy to find I used to live in Japan and the first time I went to a TAIKO DRUM ceremony I was hooked! I am a anime junkie!

Just this morning, incredibly, the mail came before I left for work (usually we get ours between 3 - 4 p.m.).. I got the late 70's Flash Gordon toon DVD set from Amazon.  I haven't taken it out of the package yet, looking forward to start watching it when I get home.. I remember the ladies were quite sexy (especially Aura) for what was ostensibly a kids' toon.  Filmation gets knocked compared to other animation houses, but they turned out some good stuff way back when..

Sammy, is this the O.G. non-special editions that Lucas swore he wasn't gonna issue to the public cause he wanted everyone to see what the films were really s'posed to look like Star Wars movies? [catching... my... breath]

I thought about picking up Chappelles Show, but from the few lost episodes I saw they weren't that funny, is it worth the money?
